But as touching love among the brethren, ye need not that I write unto you, for ye yourselves have learned of God that ye are to show charity to one another.

Beloved, let us love one another, for charity is of God. Anyone that loves is born of God and knows God. He that does not love does not know God, for God is charity. In this does the charity consist, not because we had loved God, but because he loved us and has sent his Son to be the reconciliation for our sins. In charity there is no fear; but charity that is perfect casts out fear; because fear has torment; from which he that fears is not complete in charity. We love him, because he first loved us. If anyone says, I love God and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And we have this commandment from him, That he who loves God loves his brother also.

Owe no one anything, but love one unto another; for he that loves his neighbour has fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not murder, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet, and if there is any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Charity works no evil to a neighbour; therefore, charity is the fulfillment of the law.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Ye also, giving all diligence to the same, show forth virtue in your faith; and in virtue, knowledge; and in knowledge, temperance; and in temperance, patience; and in patience, fear of God; and in fear of God, brotherly love; and in brotherly love, charity.
