Again he sent other servants, saying, 'Tell those who are invited, See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.' But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business,

But he said to him, "A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, 'Come, for everything is now ready.' But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.' read more.
And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.' And another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'

But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?'

And he told them a parable, saying, "The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, 'What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?' And he said, 'I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods.

They gave it to the carpenters and the builders to buy quarried stone, and timber for binders and beams for the buildings that the kings of Judah had let go to ruin. And the men did the work faithfully. Over them were set Jahath and Obadiah the Levites, of the sons of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to have oversight. The Levites, all who were skillful with instruments of music,

Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.

So I turned about and gave my heart up to despair over all the toil of my labors under the sun,

Sweet is the sleep of a laborer, whether he eats little or much, but the full stomach of the rich will not let him sleep.

the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end,

A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.

The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.

Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.
