And there will be signs in sun, and moon, and stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity for the roaring of the sea and billows; men fainting for fear and for expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
Some, therefore, were crying one thing, and some another; for the assembly had become confused, and the greater part knew not for what cause they had come together.
For the word of the cross is to those who are perishing, foolishness; but to those who are being saved, it is the power of God.
But a natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot know them, because they are spiritually judged.
And, even if our Gospel has been veiled, it has been veiled in those who perish; in whom the god of this world blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ, Who is the image of God, should not shine upon them.
The Jews, therefore, were wrangling with one another, saying, "How can This Man give us His flesh to eat?"
and, when this sound was heard, the multitude came together, and were greatly surprised, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. And they were amazed, and wondered, saying, "Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galilaeans?
And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, Can this be the Son of David?" But the Pharisees, hearing it, said, "This Man doth not cast out the demons, except by Beelzebub, prince of the demons."
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He hath Beelzebub, and by the ruler of the demons casteth out the demons."
But some of them said, "By Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons, He is casting out the demons."
Now Herod, the tetrarch, heard of all the things that were taking place; and he was thoroughly perplexed, because it was said by some that John was raised from the dead; and by some that Elijah appeared; and, by others, that a certain ancient prophet arose. And Herod said, "John I beheaded; but Who is This concerning Whom I hear such things?" And he was seeking to see Him.
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus, and said to his servants, "This is John the Immerser; He arose from the dead; and therefore do the powers work in Him."
And the king Herod heard of Him, (for His name became famous), and he said, "John the Immerser has risen from the dead; and, because of this, the powers are working in Him." But others said, "It is Elijah." And others said, "It is a prophet, or as one of the prophets." But Herod, hearing of Him, said, "It is he whom I beheaded, John, the same was raised."
Nicodemus says to Him, "How can a man he born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and he born?"
And they were all amazed, and perplexed, saying one to another, "What does this mean?"
But their minds were unimpressible; for until this day upon the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted; which in Christ is done away.
And the men wondered, saying, "What manner of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!"
And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, "Who, then, is This, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!"
And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And, struck with fear, they marvelled, saying one to another, "Who, then, is This, that He commandeth even the winds and the water, and they obey Him!"
Take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock in which the Holy Spirit appointed you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of God, which He purchased with His own blood. I know that, after my departure, grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among yourselves will men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
now a servant of the Lord must not engage in strife, but should be gentle towards all, apt in teaching, patient of wrong, in meekness correcting those opposing themselves, if peradventure God should give them repentance to a full knowledge of the truth,
preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching. For there will be a time when they will not endure the healthful teaching; but, having itching ears, they will for themselves heap up teachers according to their own desires;
Obey those who are your leaders, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as those who are to give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with sighing; for this would be unprofitable for you.
Every Scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man??o the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ; that we may no longer be babes, billow-tossed, and carried about with every wind of teaching, in the sleight of men, in the craftiness suited to the artifice of error;
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in full knowledge and all discernment; so that ye may approve the things that are excellent; that ye may be pure and without offense to the day of Christ;
but solid food is for full-grown men, who by practice have their senses trained for the discernment both of good and evil.
And Peter, answering, says to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here; and let us make three tents; one for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah;" for he knew not what to answer, for they became much afraid.
And Peter, answering, said to Jesus," Lord, it is good that we are here. If Thou wilt, I will make here three tents??ne for Thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
And it came to pass, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good that we are here; and let us make three tents; one for Thee, one for Moses, and one for Elijah;" not knowing what he was saying. Now, while he was saying these things, there came a cloud, and it was overshadowing them; and they feared, as they entered into the cloud.
And, going out, they fled from the tomb; for trembling and astonishment seized them. And they said nothing to any one; for they were afraid.
Moreover, also, certain women of our company astonished us, having been early at the tomb; and, not finding His body, they came, saying that they had seen a vision of angels, who said that He was alive! And some of those with us went away to the tomb, and found it even so as the women said; but Him they saw not."read more.
And He said to them, "O inconsiderate and slow in heart to believe in all that the prophets spake!
Many, therefore, of His disciples, having heard this, said, "This is a hard saying! Who can hear it?"
Some of His disciples, therefore, said to one another, "What is this that He saith to us, 'A little while, and ye behold Me not; and again a little while, and ye will see Me;' and, 'Because I go to the Father?'" They said, therefore, "What is this that He saith, 'A little while?'??e know not what He saith!" Jesus knew that they wished to ask Him, and He said to them, "Do ye inquire among yourselves about this that I said, 'A little while, and ye behold Me not, and again a little while, and ye will see Me!'
being pressed on every side, yet not cooped up; perplexed, yet not despairing;
For even when we came into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief; but we were in tribulation on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
my little children, for whom I am in travail again, until Christ be formed in you! And I was wishing to be present with you now, and to change my voice; because I am perplexed about you.
I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from Him Who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different Gospel, which is not another; only there are some who are troubling you, and wishing to pervert the Gospel of Christ.
but, after having known God, or rather having been known by God, how are ye turning back again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which ye desire to be in bondage again?
I have confidence toward you in the Lord, that ye will regard nothing else; but he who is troubling you shall bear his sentence, whosoever he may be.
But, if any of you is lacking in wisdom, let him ask from God, Who giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it will be given him;
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I told you.
But, when He, the Spirit of truth, shall come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak from Himself; but whatsoever He heareth He will speak; and He will declare to you things to come.
but, as it has been written, "Things which eye saw not, and ear heard not, and that entered not into the heart of man??hatsoever things God prepared for those who love Him"; but to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things ??ven the deep things of God.
