He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

for this reason I speak to them in parables; because though they see, they will not see; and though they hear, they will not hear, nor understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, Ye shall hear by the hearing of the ear, and not understand; and in seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: for the heart of this people is grown stupid, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes; least they should see at all with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

And when He was apart from the multitude, those that were about Him with the twelve asked Him concerning the parable. And he said unto them, To you it is granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but unto them that are without all things are delivered in parables: that in seeing they may see and not perceive, and in hearing they may hear and not understand, least they should be converted, and their sins be forgiven them.

And He said, To you it is granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but I speak to others in parables, that in seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

Therefore some of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this He whom they seek to put to death? and here He talketh openly, and they say nothing to Him: Do the rulers indeed know, that this is in truth the Messiah? Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not. But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He hath sent me. They sought therefore to seize Him, but no one laid hand on Him, because his hour was not yet come. And many of the people believed on Him, and said, When the Messiah cometh, will He do more miracles than this man hath done? Now the pharisees heard the people murmuring these things concerning Him: and they, with the chief priests, sent officers to seize Him. Therefore Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I am to be among you, and then I shall go to Him that sent me. Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come. Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will He go, that we shall not find Him? will He go to them that are dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? What is the meaning of this speech, that He said, "Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am to be, ye cannot come?" And on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any one thirst, let him come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, rivers of living water shall flow from within him. (This He spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive; for the holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.) Many of the people therefore, when they heard this discourse, said, This is in truth a prophet. Others said, This is the Messiah. But some said, Shall the Messiah come out of Galilee? Hath not the Scripture said, that Christ cometh of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the town whence David was. So there was a division among the people about Him.

And an angel of the Lord spake to Philip, saying, Arise and go southward to the way that leads down from Jerusalem to Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went; and behold a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, and her high-treasurer, who had come to Jerusalem to worship, was returning, and as he sat in his chariot, was reading the prophet Esaias:read more.
and the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip running up to him, heard him reading the prophet Esaias, and said, Dost thou understand what thou readest? And he said, How can I, unless some one guide me? and he desired Philip to come up and sit with him. And the portion of scripture, which he was reading, was this, "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before it's shearer is dumb, so He opened not his mouth: in his humiliation his judgement was taken away, and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken away from the earth." And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom doth the prophet say this? of himself, or of some other person? Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this scripture, preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch said, See here is water, what hindereth me from being baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he ordered the chariot to stop: and they both went down to the water, Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things future, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

For the love of Christ constraineth us, being fully persuaded of this, that if One died for all, then were all dead. And He died for all, that those who live might no longer live to themselves, but to Him who died for them and rose again.

for which cause also I suffer these things; but I am not ashamed: for I know in whom I have trusted, and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him against that day.

And he discoursed in the synagogue every sabbath-day, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.

And according to his custom Paul went in among them, and for three sabbath-days discoursed to them from the scriptures; opening them and shewing, that the Messiah was to suffer and rise again from the dead: and that this is the Christ even, Jesus, whom, said he, I preach unto you. And some of them believed and joined themselves to Paul and Silas, and a great number of the devout Greeks, and of the women of distinction not a few.

and spake boldly, disputing with them for the space of three months, and persuading them of the things concerning the kingdom of God.

I know that thou believest them. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou almost persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.

And having appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging; to whom he discoursed and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them of the things concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses, and from the prophets, from morning till evening. And some regarded the things that were spoken, but others did not believe.

Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men: but if not, we are manifest unto God, and I hope we are also manifested to your consciences:
