Listen, give heed and do not be haughty (arrogant). Jehovah has spoken.
I say through the grace given to me that every man among you should not think more highly of himself than he ought to think. But to think soberly, just as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.
So if any one of you thinks you are important when you really are not, you are only fooling yourself.
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others more important than you.
Boast no more so proudly. Remove arrogance from your mouth. Jehovah is a God of knowledge, and he measures his actions (deeds).

Command those who are rich in this present system not to be high-minded (arrogant), not to have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
Blessed is the man who has made Jehovah his security. He has not turned to the proud, or to those who turn aside into falsehood.
Better is the end of a thing than its beginning. The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
Can an ax attack the person who cuts with it? Can a saw make itself greater than the person who saws with it? A rod cannot move the person who lifts it. A wooden stick cannot pick up a person.
He should not be a new believer, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation of the Devil.
Therefore Jehovah says: Behold, against this family I plan bad things, from which you will not remove the burden. You will not be able to show pride for it is an evil time.
When you are invited to a marriage feast do not take the place of honor. Someone more distinguished than you may be invited.
He must not think he is better than the rest of his people. He will not disobey these commandments in any way. So he and his sons will rule for a long time in Israel.
