These words that I command you this day must be in your heart. Carefully teach them to your sons. Talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way. Speak about them when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Take these words of mine to heart and keep them in mind. Write them down, tie them around your wrist, and wear them as headbands to remind you.
This Book of the Law will not depart out of your mouth. You must meditate (intensely study) (think deeply) on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. Then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
I will meditate on your precepts and regard your ways.
Reverence Jehovah and serve him in truth with all your heart. Remember the great things he has done for you.

How is it we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who come to nothing (are doomed to destruction)?
For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. It is written: He catches the wise in their own craftiness (deception). (Job 5:13) And again: Jehovah knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain (useless) (empty). (Psalm 94:11)
We cast down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God. We bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his works are from meekness because of wisdom. If you have bitter jealousy (envy) and greedy ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and lie against the truth. This wisdom is not a wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and devilish.
Look out for the interest of others and not only for your own personal interest.
Do not oppress the widow. Do not oppress the fatherless. Do not oppress the stranger and do not oppress the poor. And you should not devise evil in your heart against your brother.
Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers? He said: The one who showed mercy to him. Jesus said to him: Go and you do like wise.
Contribute to the needs of the holy ones and practice hospitality.
When one member suffers all the members suffer with it. When one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
Therefore if I do not know the meaning of what someone is saying I will be a foreigner to him that speaks. And he that speaks will be a foreigner to me too. As much as you are zealous for spiritual gifts, strive to build-up (increase) the enlightenment (understanding) of the congregation.

For our acceptable parts have no need. But God has assembled the body together, having given more abundant honor to the part that was lacking. There should be no division in the body. So the members should have the same care for each other.
How is it then, brothers? When you come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation, and has an interpretation. Let all things be done to clarify and offer understanding! If anyone speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three. It should be orderly by plan and someone must interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let the speaker keep silence in the congregation and speak to himself and to God.read more.
Let two or three prophets speak and let the others listen. If there is a revelation to another while sitting there, let the others keep quiet. You may all prophesy one by one (in turn) that all may learn, and all may be comforted. Let the prophets control the spirits (minds) (mental disposition) of the prophets. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the congregations of the holy ones.
Let us consider one another to encourage love and good works:
Brothers, if someone is caught in any kind of wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should set him right. But you must do it in a gentle way. And keep an eye on yourselves, so that you will not be tempted, too.
Peter said to him: Your money will perish with you, because you think that the gift of God may be purchased with money. You have no part or share in this matter for your heart is not right in the sight of God.
for when they knew God, they did not glorify him as God. They did not thank him and were vain in their reasoning, for their foolish hearts were darkened.
This I say therefore, and testify (affirm) in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the nations also walk, in the vanity (futility) (depravity) of their mind (thinking). They are darkened (blinded) (obscured) in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart. They are past feeling. They have given themselves over to loose conduct, to work all uncleanness with greediness (a lust for more).
I say through the grace given to me that every man among you should not think more highly of himself than he ought to think. But to think soberly, just as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Consider your calling, brothers. Not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
Brothers, do not be like children in understanding. When it comes to evil be innocent children but in your thinking be mature adults.
For I do not consider myself inferior to the super apostles. Though I am unskilled in speech, yet I am not in knowledge. We have in every way made this evident to you in all things.
So if any one of you thinks you are important when you really are not, you are only fooling yourself.
For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving.
For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with certain of them that commend themselves. But they measure themselves by themselves, and compare themselves with themselves. They are without understanding.
Evil thoughts come from the heart! Thoughts about murder, adultery, fornication, theft, lying, and slander come from the heart!
They show the work of the law written in their hearts. Their conscience also bears witness, and their thoughts accuse or excuse them.
When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, and reason like a child. When I became an adult I did away with childish things.

Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have its own worries. Sufficient for each day is its own badness.
Brace up your minds. Remain sober, and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Live as children of obedience. Do not fashion yourself according to your former lusts, for you were ignorant at that time.
When the seventh year, the year when payments on debts are canceled, is near, you might be stingy toward poor Israelites and give them nothing. Be careful not to think these worthless thoughts. The poor will complain to Jehovah about you, and you will be condemned for your sin.
