But whenever you, follower of mine, pray, you must go to your most private place, shut the door, and pray to your Father in secret, and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you.

The next day, while those men were traveling on and not far from the town, Peter went up on the housetop about noon to pray.

I tell you, although he will not get up and give you any because he is your friend, yet because of your persistence he will get up and give you all your needs. So I tell you, keep on asking, and the gift will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and the door will open to you. For everyone who keeps on asking, receives; and the one who keeps on seeking, finds; and to the one who keeps on knocking, the door will open. Now is there a father among you who, if his son asks him for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or, if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? So if you, in spite of your being bad, know how to give your children what is good, how much more surely will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who continue to ask Him?"

And He Himself withdrew about a stone's throw from them, and after kneeling down He continued to pray, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet, not my will but always yours be done!"

But the news about Him continued to spread, and great crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be cured of their diseases. But Jesus Himself continued His habit of retiring to lonely spots and praying.

After He had told them "Goodbye," He went up the hill to pray. Now when evening had come, the boat was in the middle of the sea, while He was alone on land.

One day while He was praying in solitude, His disciples were nearby, and He asked them, "Who do people say that I am?"

Now it was in those days that He went up on the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.

Early in the morning, long before daybreak, He got up and went out to a lonely spot, and stayed praying there.

The next day, while those men were traveling on and not far from the town, Peter went up on the housetop about noon to pray.
