Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothes the grass, which is today in the field and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

The grass withers, the open flower fades; but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

I am the lily of the field and the rose of the valleys. As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the virgins.

Woe unto those that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto those that are mighty to drink wine and men of strength to mingle strong drink; who justify the wicked for bribes and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Therefore as the fire devours the stubble and the flame consumes the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go away as dust because they have cast away the law of the LORD of the hosts and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

The voice that said, Cry. And I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the mercy thereof is as the open flower of the field: The grass withers, the flower fades because the spirit of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people is grass.
