And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

and killed the Author of life, whom God has raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he gives to all life and breath and all things

The LORD kills, and he gives life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.

The Spirit of God made me, and the breath of the Almighty gave me life.

For thou hast possessed my kidneys: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou and thy princes, thy wives and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; furthermore, thou hast praised gods of silver and of gold, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone, which do not see, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand is thy soul and whose are all thy ways, thou hast never honoured.

for in him we live and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also of his lineage.

and ye do not know what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? Certainly it is a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Ye ought to say instead, If the Lord wills, and if we live, we shall do this or that.

LORD, make me to know my end and the measure of my days, what it is that I may know how long I am to be of this world.

And he said, Behold now, I am old: I know not the day of my death.

Come now, ye that say, Today and tomorrow we will go into such a city and continue there a year and buy and sell and get gain; and ye do not know what shall be tomorrow. For what is your life? Certainly it is a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

For what is a man advantaged if he gains the whole world, having destroyed himself or having suffered the loss of himself?

for I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his rights, that thou may live and be multiplied; and may the LORD thy God bless thee in the land into which thou dost enter to inherit it.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will rest in the house of the LORD for ever.

For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD; thou art my security from my youth. By thee have I been sustained from the womb; thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels; my praise has been continually of thee.

O LORD, I know that man is not the lord of his own way: it is not in man that walks to order his steps.

He has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

He that finds his life shall lose it, and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.

For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.

The days of our years are seventy, and of the most valiant eighty years, yet their strength is labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Remember how short my time is; why hast thou made all men subject to vanity?

Cause us to learn this that we might number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

My days are like a shadow that declines, and I am withered like grass.

Man is like unto vanity; his days are as a shadow that passes away.

The voice that said, Cry. And I said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the mercy thereof is as the open flower of the field: The grass withers, the flower fades because the spirit of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people is grass. And Noah was five hundred years old; and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years, and he died.

And Terah took Abram, his son, and Lot, the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai, his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran and dwelt there. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, and Terah died in Haran.

Length of days is in her right hand and in her left hand riches and honour.

Honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be lengthened upon the land which the LORD thy God gives thee.

The fear of the LORD shall prolong days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

For he that desires to love life and see the good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil and his lips that they speak no guile;

Lamed Who is the man that desires life and loves many days that he may see good? Mem Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

He will yet fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouts of joy.

With long life I will satisfy him and show him my saving health.

I loathed life; I do not desire to live for ever; let me alone; for my days are vanity.
