or indeed that we may have mutual consolation from the faith which is in common to you and to me.

Love not the world, nor let worldly things engage your affections. he that is worldly affected is a stranger to divine love.

you will be betrayed even by your very parents, and brethren, and kindred, and friends. nay, some of you they will prosecute even to death.

beloved, if our heart condemn us not, we may securely confide in God.

but you, my brethren, improve yourselves in your most holy faith, present your addresses by the holy spirit,

But though we speak in this manner, my dear brethren, we expect better things of you, and such as are more suitable to your salvation.
