Yes, just as you are growing rich in everything else, in faith, expression, knowledge, perfect enthusiasm, and the love inspired in you by us, you must see to it that you grow rich in this gracious contribution too. I am not saying this in the spirit of a command, but I am simply trying to test the genuineness of your love by the enthusiasm of others. For by experience you know the unmerited favor shown by our Lord Jesus Christ; that although He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, in order that by His poverty you might become rich.
We know what love is from the fact that He laid down His life for us; and so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. But if anyone has the world's means of supporting life and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how can love to God remain in him? Those who are taught the truth should share all their goods with the man who teaches them.

Let us stop getting tired of doing good, for at the proper time we shall reap if we do not give up. So then whenever we have an opportunity, let us practice doing good to everybody, but especially to the members of the family of faith.
