Philip answered Him, "Forty dollars' worth of bread is not enough to give them all even a scanty meal apiece."

"Why was this perfume not sold for sixty dollars and the money given to the poor?"
See, the wages that you have kept back from the laborers who reaped your fields are crying aloud, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.
When he had contracted with the laborers at twenty cents a day, he sent them off to his vineyard. He went out again about nine o'clock and found others standing around doing nothing. So he said to them, 'You too go out to my vineyard, and I will pay you what is right.' And they went.
Masters, you must practice doing the right and square things by your slaves, for you know that you have a Master in heaven.
For when I was with you, I gave you this direction, "If a person refuses to work, he must not be allowed to eat." But we are informed that some among you are living as shirkers, mere busybodies, instead of busy at work. Now on the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ we charge and exhort such persons to do their own work with quiet and eat their own bread.
Heartily and cheerfully keep on working as slaves, as though it were for the Lord and not for men, for you know that everyone, slave or free, will get his reward from the Lord for anything good he has done.

Then Judas, who had betrayed Him, as he felt condemned, in remorse brought back the thirty pieces to the high priests and elders, and said, "I did wrong in turning an innocent man over to death." The high priests picked up the money and said, "It is not legal to put it into the consecrated treasury, for it is blood money." So after consultation they bought with it the Potter's Field as a burying-ground for strangers. Now this piece of ground has ever since been called "The Field of Blood." In that way the words spoken by the prophet Jeremiah were fulfilled: "They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one whose price had been fixed by some Israelites, and gave them for the Potter's Field, as the Lord directed me."

"When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his manager, 'Call the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last and ending with the first.' And they who had been hired at five o'clock came and received twenty cents each. And those who were hired first, when they came, supposed that they would receive more, but they too received twenty cents each. And as they received it, they began to grumble against the owner of the estate, and say, 'These last worked only one hour, and yet you have put them on the same footing with us who have borne the heavy burdens and scorching heat of the day.' But he answered one of them, 'Friend, I am doing you no injustice. Did you not contract with me at twenty cents? Take what belongs to you and go. I want to give this man hired last as much as I do you. Have I not the right to do what I please with my own money? Or, is your eye causing you to be covetous, because I am generous? So those who are last now will be first then, and those first will be last."
Elders who do their duties well should be considered as deserving twice the salary they get especially those who keep on toiling in preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, "You must not muzzle an ox when he is treading out the grain," and, "The workman deserves his pay."
Stay on at the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the workman deserves his support. Do not keep moving about from house to house.
Now the reaper is already getting pay, for he is gathering a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. For in this matter the adage is true, 'One sows, another reaps.' I have sent you to reap a harvest which you have not labored to make. Other men have labored, but you have reaped the results of their labors."
What soldier ever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat any of its grapes? Who shepherds a flock and does not drink any of the milk the flock produces? I am not saying this only by way of human illustrations, am I? Does not the law say so too? For in the law of Moses it is written, "You must not muzzle an ox that is treading out your grain." Is it that God is concerned about oxen only?read more.
Is He not really speaking on our behalf? Yes, indeed, this law was written on our behalf, because the plowman ought to plow and the thresher ought to thresh, in the hope of sharing in the crop. If we have sown the spiritual seed for you, is it too great for us to reap a material support from you? If others share this right with you, have we not a stronger claim? Yet, we have never used this right; no, we keep on bearing everything, to keep from hindering the progress of the good news of Christ. Do you not know that those who do the work about the temple get their living from the temple, and those who constantly attend on the altar share its offerings? Just so the Lord has issued orders that those who preach the good news shall get their living out of it.
Those who are taught the truth should share all their goods with the man who teaches them.
But I myself have never used any of these rights. And I am not writing this just to make it so in my case, for I had rather die than do that. No one shall rob me of this ground of boasting.
Did I do wrong in taking a lowly place to let you have an exalted one, in that I preached the good news about God to you without accepting any pay? I sponged on other churches by taking pay from them to render service to you, and when I was with you and needed money, I never burdened a single one of you for a cent, for the brothers came from Macedonia and supplied what I needed. And so I kept myself, as I shall always do, from being a burden to you in any way.
I have received your payment in full, and more too. I am amply supplied after getting the things you sent by Epaphroditus; they are like sweet incense, the kind of sacrifice that God accepts and approves.
Do not be deceived anymore; God is not to be scoffed at. A person will reap just what he sows, whatever it is. The person who sows to gratify his lower nature will reap destruction from that lower nature, and the person who sows to gratify his higher nature will reap eternal life from the Spirit. Let us stop getting tired of doing good, for at the proper time we shall reap if we do not give up.read more.
So then whenever we have an opportunity, let us practice doing good to everybody, but especially to the members of the family of faith.
What benefit did you then derive from doing the things of which you are now ashamed? None, for they end in death. But now, since you have been freed from sin and have become the slaves of God, the immediate result is consecration, and the final destiny is eternal life. For the wages paid by sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life through union with Christ Jesus our Lord.
They think their daily luxurious living real pleasure; they are spots and blots, deceitfully living in luxurious pleasure while they continue their religious feasting with you.

And I solemnly say to you, no one who gives a cup of cold water to one of the least of my disciples, because he is a disciple, will ever fail to get his reward."
"For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink, on the ground that you belong to Christ, I solemnly say to you, he will not fail to get his reward.
If the structure which one builds upon it stands the test, he will get his pay.
For God is not so unjust as to forget the work you have done and the love you have shown His name in the service you have rendered for your fellow-Christians, and still are doing.
