Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others; and sent them away, two and two, before His face, into every city and place, whither He Himself was about to come. And He said to them, "The harvest, indeed, is great, but the laborers few. Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He urge forth laborers into His harvest. Go your ways; behold, I am sending you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves. read more.
Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals; and salute no one by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house.' And, if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it; but, if not, it will return to you. And in the same house abide, eating and drinking the things supplied by them; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you; and heal the sick therein, and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God has come near to you.' But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say, 'Even the dust from your city, that cleaves to our feet, we wipe off against you; nevertheless, know this, that the Kingdom of God has come nigh.' I say to you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! because, if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, shall you be exalted to Heaven? You shall be thrust down to Hades! "He who hears you hears Me; and he who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects Him Who sent Me."

"Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; become ye, therefore, as wise as the serpents and as innocent as doves. But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to high-councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you; and before the governors and the kings shall ye be brought for My sake, for a testimony to them and to the gentiles. read more.
And, when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak; for it is not ye that speak, but, the Spirit of your Father Who speaketh in you. "And brother will deliver up brother to death; and father, his child; and children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye will be hated by all, for My name's sake; but he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.

And Jesus, going out, was departing from the temple; and His disciples came near to show Him the buildings of the temple. But, He, answering, said to them, "See ye not all these things? verily I say to you, there shall in no wise be left here a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down." And, while He was sitting on the mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us when shall these things be, and what is the sign of Thy coming and of the end of the age." read more.
And Jesus, answering, said to them, "Take heed that no one lead you astray; for many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will lead many astray. And ye will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that ye be not troubled, for these things must come to pass; but the end is not yet. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. But all these are a beginning of travail. Then will they deliver you up to tribulation, and will slay you; and ye will be hated by all the nations for My name's sake.

And, as He was going out of the temple, one of His disciples says to Him, "Teacher, behold, what manner of stones and what manner of buildings!" And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? There shall not be left here a stone upon a stone, which shall not be thrown down." And brother will deliver up brother to death; and the father, the child; and children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye will be hated by all for My name's sake; but he that endures to the end, the same shall be saved.

And, as some were speaking about the temple, "With what beautiful stones and offerings it has been adorned," He said, "As to these things which ye are looking upon, the days will come, in which there will not be left here a stone upon a stone, which will not be thrown down." And they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, when, therefore, will these things be, and what is the sign, when all these things are about to come to pass?" read more.

And, when ye hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified; for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not straight-way." Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be great earthquakes, and, in various places, famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. And, before all these things, they will lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up into the synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and governors for My name's sake. It shall result to you for a testimony. Settle it, therefore, in your hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to make a defense; for I will give you a mouth, and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to withstand or gainsay. But ye will be delivered up even by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And ye will be hated by all for My name's sake.

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman. Every branch in Me that bears not fruit, He taketh it away: and every one that bears fruit, He cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit. Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. read more.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, unless ye abide in Me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abides in Me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit; because, apart from Me, ye can do nothing. Unless one abides in Me, he was cast forth as a branch, and withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done to you. In this was My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, and become My disciples. Even as the Father loved Me, I also loved you; abide in My love. If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love. These things have I spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. This is My commandment, that ye love one another, even as I loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his soul for his friends. Ye are My friends, if ye do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves; because the slave knows not what his lord is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things which I heard from My Father I made known to you. Ye did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you. These things I command you, that ye may love one another. If the world hates you, ye know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

"Every one, therefore, who shall confess Me before men, him will I also confess before My Father Who is in Heaven. But whosoever denies Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father Who is in Heaven. "Think not that I came to send peace on the earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword; read more.
for I came to set a man at variance with his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and the man's foes will be those of his own house-hold. "He that loves father or mother more than Me, is not worthy of Me; and he that loves son or daughter more than Me, is not worthy of Me.

Now there were journeying with Him great multitudes; and, turning, He said to them, "If any one comes to Me, and hates not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and, further, his own soul also, he cannot be My disciple. And whosoever does not bear his own cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple. read more.
For who of you, wishing to build a tower, does not, first, sitting down, calculate the expense, whether he has enough for its completion? lest, perhaps, having laid a foundation, and not being able to finish it, all who behold begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish!' "Or what king, going on to engage another king in war, does not, sitting down, first take counsel, whether he is able, with ten thousand, to meet him who is coming against him with twenty thousand? And, if not by any means, while he is yet afar off, sending an embassy, he asks conditions of peace. "So, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his own goods, cannot be My disciple.

He who says that he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now. He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hates his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness, and knows not where he is going, because the darkness blinded his eyes.

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brethren. He that loves not abides in death. Every one that hates his brother is a murderer; and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

If anyone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God Whom he has not seen.

Jesus spake these things; and, lifting up His eyes to Heaven, said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy Son, that the Son may glorify Thee; even as Thou gavest Him authority over all flesh, that to all Whom Thou hast given Him He should give eternal life. And this is the eternal life, that they know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ Whom Thou didst send. read more.
I glorified Thee on the earth; having completed the work which Thou hast given Me to do. And, now, Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine Own Self, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was. I manifested Thy name to the men whom Thou gavest Me out of the world. While I was with them, I was keeping, in Thy name, those Whom Thou hast given Me; and I guarded them, and no one of them perished, except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I come to Thee, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy made full in themselves. I have given them Thy word, and the world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that Thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that Thou shouldest keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

"Had I not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. Had I not done among them the works which no other did, they would not have had sin; but now have they both seen and hated both Me and My Father; but this they do, that the word may be fulfilled, which has been written in their law, 'They hated Me without a cause.'

Jesus, therefore, saith to them, "My time is not yet present; but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you; but Me it hates, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil. Go ye up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because My time has not yet been fulfilled."

He who loves his soul loses it; and he who hates his soul in this world will keep it unto life eternal.

For every one that practices evil hates the Light, and comes not to the Light, lest his works should be reproved;
