There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but it tendeth only to want.
There is a grievous evil that I have seen under the sun: riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt;
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.
For we have brought nothing into the world: it is manifest that neither can we carry anything out.
But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many unwise and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. For the love of money is the root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
But a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and put aside for himself part of the price, his wife also being privy to it; and having brought a certain part, laid it at the feet of the apostles.

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal;
Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
Sell what ye possess and give alms; make to yourselves purses which do not grow old, a treasure which does not fail in the heavens, where thief does not draw near nor moth destroy.
He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay; He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on; and the innocent shall divide the silver.
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thy hand to do it.
Go to now, ye rich, weep, howling over your miseries that are coming upon you. Your wealth is become rotten, and your garments moth-eaten. Your gold and silver is eaten away, and their canker shall be for a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have heaped up treasure in the last days.
