And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you become fishers of men;
And Jesus, passing on thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, called Matthew, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.
And passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax-office, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.
And after these things he went forth and saw a tax-gatherer, Levi by name, sitting at the receipt of taxes, and said to him, Follow me.
Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me. But the young man, having heard the word, went away grieved, for he had large possessions.
On the morrow he would go forth into Galilee, and Jesus finds Philip, and says to him, Follow me.
But he said this signifying by what death he should glorify God. And having said this, he says to him, Follow me.
Now the God of endurance and of encouragement give to you to be like-minded one toward another, according to Christ Jesus;
But I speak of this, that each of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.
He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me. And he who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.
If any man come to me, and shall not hate his own father and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yea, and his own life too, he cannot be my disciple; and whoever does not carry his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any one desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
And having called the crowd with his disciples, he said to them, Whoever desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
And he said to them all, If any one will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me;
He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal. If any one serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall be my servant. And if any one serve me, him shall the Father honour.
But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.
He that finds his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for my sake shall find it.
For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's shall save it.
Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose it shall preserve it.
Jesus said to him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell what thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, One thing lackest thou: go, sell whatever thou hast and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.
And when Jesus had heard this, he said to him, One thing is lacking to thee yet: Sell all that thou hast and distribute to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow me.
For which of you, desirous of building a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, if he have what is needed to complete it; in order that, having laid the foundation of it, and not being able to finish it, all who see it do not begin to mock at him, saying, This man began to build and was not able to finish?read more.
Or what king, going on his way to engage in war with another king, does not, sitting down first, take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him coming against him with twenty thousand? and if not, while he is yet far off, having sent an embassy, he asks for terms of peace. Thus then every one of you who forsakes not all that is his own cannot be my disciple.
For to this have ye been called; for Christ also has suffered for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his steps:
And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me to go first and bury my father.
And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord, but first allow me to bid adieu to those at my house.
and a great crowd followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought upon the sick.
From that time many of his disciples went away back and walked no more with him.
and they, having left the ship and their father, immediately followed him.
and straightway he called them; and leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, they went away after him.
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard this from John and followed him.
Although indeed from among the rulers also many believed on him, but on account of the Pharisees did not confess him, that they might not be put out of the synagogue:
But there was a man from among the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; he came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God, for none can do these signs that thou doest unless God be with him.
He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; but he that loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.
So that, my beloved, even as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much rather in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,
Jesus therefore said to the Jews who believed him, If ye abide in my word, ye are truly my disciples;
If any one love not the Lord Jesus Christ let him be Anathema Maranatha.
Bondmen, obey masters according to flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart as to the Christ; not with eye-service as men-pleasers; but as bondmen of Christ, doing the will of God from the soul,
and whatsoever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments, and practise the things which are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and that we love one another, even as he has given us commandment. And he that keeps his commandments abides in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given to us.
These are they who have not been defiled with women, for they are virgins: these are they who follow the Lamb wheresoever it goes. These have been bought from men as first-fruits to God and to the Lamb:
