There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.
There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: wealth kept by its owner to his harm.
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira, his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
"Indeed they don't know to do right," says Yahweh, "Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces."
"Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don't grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn't fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.
People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.
Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay; he may prepare it, but the just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
Don't withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you. Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
