And as Jesus passed forth from thence he saw a man sit at the receipt of custom, named Matthew: and said to him, "Follow me." And he arose, and followed him.
And as Jesus passed by, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sit at the receipt of custom and said unto him, "Follow me." And he arose and followed him.
And after that, he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, "Follow me."
And Jesus said unto him, "If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me." When the young man heard that saying, he went away mourning. For he had great possessions.
The day following, Jesus would go into Galilee, and found Philip, and said unto him, "Follow me."
That spake he signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said thus, he said to him, "Follow me."
The God of patience and consolation give unto every one of you, that ye be like likeminded one towards another after the example of Jesus Christ:
And this is it that I mean: how that commonly among you, one sayeth, "I hold of Paul"; Another, "I hold of Apollos"; the third, "I hold of Cephas"; and the fourth that, "I hold of Christ."
He that loveth his father or mother more than me, is not meet for me: and he that loveth his son or daughter more than me, is not meet for me. And he that taketh not his cross and followeth me, is not meet for me.
"If a man come to me, and hate not his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, moreover and his own life, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever bear not his cross, and come after me cannot be my disciple.
Jesus then said to his disciples. "If any man will follow me, let him forsake himself, and take up his cross and follow me.
And he called the people unto him, with his disciples also, and said unto them, "Whosoever will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
And he said to them all, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross on him daily, and follow me.
He that loveth his life shall destroy it: And he that hateth his life in this world, shall keep it unto life eternal. If any man minister unto me, let him follow me: and where I am, there shall also my minister be. And if any man minister unto me, him will my father honour.
He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.
For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it. But whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.
Whosoever will go about to save his life, shall lose it: And whosoever shall lose his life, shall save it.
And Jesus said unto him, "If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me."
Jesus beheld him, and had a favour to him, and said unto him, "One thing is lacking unto thee. Go, and sell all that thou hast, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me, and take up thy cross on thee."
When Jesus heard that, he said unto him, "Yet lackest thou one thing. Sell all that thou hast, and distribute it unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, and follow me."
Which of you is he that is disposed to build a tower, and sitteth not down before and counteth the cost: Whether he have sufficient to perform it? Lest after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to perform it, all that behold it, begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to make an end.'read more.
Or what king goeth to make battle against another king, and sitteth not down first, and casteth in his mind, whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand, or else while the other is yet a great way off, he will send ambassadors, and desire peace. So likewise, none of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, can be my disciple.
For hereunto verily were ye called, for Christ also suffered for us: leaving us an example that ye should follow his steps,
And he said unto another, "Follow me." And the same said, "Lord suffer me first to go and bury my father."
And another said, "I will follow thee Lord: But let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house."
And a great multitude followed him, because they had seen his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
And they, without tarrying, left the ship and their father and followed him.
And anon he called them. And they left their father Zebedee in the ship with his hired servants, and went their way after him.

Nevertheless, among the chief rulers many believed on him: but because of the Pharisees they would not be a known of it, lest they should be excommunicated.
There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler among the Jews. The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, "Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher which art come from God. For no man could do such miracles as thou doest, except God were with him."
He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, the same is he that loveth me: and he shall be loved of my father, and I will love him, and will show mine own self unto him."
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, as ye have always obeyed - not when I was present only, but now much more in mine absence - even so work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, "If ye continue in my words, then are ye my very disciples:
"If ye love me, keep my commandments,
Servants, be obedient unto your carnal masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your hearts, as unto Christ: not with service in the eyesight, as men-pleasers: but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart
and whatsoever we ask, that we shall receive of him: because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments abideth in him, and he in him. And thereby we know that there dwelleth in us of his spirit, which he gave us.
These are they, which were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These follow the lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from men being the first fruits unto God and to the lamb,
