which gave himself for our sins, to deliver us from this present evil world, through the will of God our father,
We know that we be of God, and that the world is altogether set on mischief.

Nevertheless, all things are of God, which hath reconciled us unto himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given unto us the office to preach the atonement. For God was in Christ, and made agreement between the world and himself, and imputed not their sins unto them: and hath committed to us the preaching of the atonement. Now then are we messengers in the room of Christ: even as though God did beseech you through us. So pray we you, in Christ's stead, that ye be at one with God:
Ye adulterers, and women that break matrimony: know ye not how that the friendship of the world is enmity to Godward? Whosoever will be friend of the world, is made the enemy of God.
See that ye love not the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him.
I have given them thy words, and the world hath hated them: because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I desire not that thou shouldest take them out of the world: but that thou keep them from evil. They are not of the world, as I am not of the world.
And with many other words bare he witness, and exhorted them saying, "Save yourselves from this untoward generation."
And fashion not yourselves like unto this world: But be changed through the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what thing that good, that acceptable, and perfect will of God is.
And they that use this world, be as though they used it not: For the fashion of this world goeth away.
Set yourselves therefore at large, and bear not a stranger's yoke with the unbelievers. For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? What company hath light with darkness? What concord hath Christ with Belial? Either, what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? How agreeth the temple of God with images? And ye are the temple of the living God, as said God, "I will dwell among them, and walk among them, and will be their God: and they shall be my people."read more.
Wherefore, "Come out from among them, and separate yourselves," saith the Lord, "and touch none unclean thing: so will I receive you,
Away, away, get you out from thence and touch no unclean thing. Go out from among such. And be clean ye that bear the vessel of the LORD.
that ye may be faultless, and pure, and the sons of God; without rebuke in the midst of a crooked and a perverse nation, among which see that ye shine as lights in the world,
Set your affection on things that are above, and not on things which are on the earth.
and teacheth us that we should deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and that we should live sober minded, righteously, and godly in this present world,
Pure devotion, and undefiled before God the father, is this: To visit the friendless, and widows in their adversity, and to keep himself unspotted of the world.
as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves unto your old lusts of ignorance:
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers, and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which fight against the soul,
For it is sufficient for us that we have spent the time that is past of the life, after the will of the gentiles; walking in wantonness, lusts, drunkenness, in eating, drinking, and in abominable idolatry.
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not exceeding wise, and that they trust not in the uncertain riches, but in the living God, which giveth us abundantly all things to enjoy them,
"See that ye gather not treasure together upon the earth, where rust and moths corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Then Jesus said then unto his disciples: "Verily I say unto you, it is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
When Jesus saw him mourn, he said, "With what difficulty shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God:
And he put forth a similitude unto them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth fruits plenteously, and he thought in himself saying, 'What shall I do? Because I have no room where to bestow my fruits.' And he said, 'This will I do. I will destroy my barns, and build greater: and therein will I gather all my fruits, and my goods:read more.
and I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up in store for many years, take thine ease: eat, drink and be merry.' But God said unto him, 'Thou fool, this night will they fetch away thy soul again from thee. Then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?' So is it with him that gathered riches, and is not rich in God."
For what shall it advantage a man, to win the whole world, if he lose himself: or run in damage of himself?
What shall it profit a man, though he should win all the whole world, if he lose his own soul? Or else, what shall a man give to redeem his soul again withal?
What shall it profit a man, if he should win all the world and lose his own soul?
He that was sown among thorns, is he that heareth the word of God, but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and so is he made unfruitful.
For Demas hath left me, and hath loved this present world, and is departed into Thessalonica. Crescens is gone to Galatia, and Titus unto Dalmatia.
But when we are judged of the Lord we are chastened, because we should not be damned with the world.
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out a doors.
Let no man deceive you with vain words. For through such things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of unbelief.
Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be overcome with surfeiting and drunkenness, and cares of this world: and that, that day come on you unawares.
For as in the days before the flood: they did eat and drink, marry, and were married, even unto the day that Noah entered in to the ship, and knew of nothing till the flood came and took them all away. So shall also the coming of the son of man be.
Be ye prepared therefore, for the son of man will come at a hour when ye think not."
Of the times and seasons brethren ye have no need that I write unto you: for ye your selves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come even as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, "Peace, no danger," then cometh on them sudden destruction, as the travailing of a woman with child, and they shall not escape.read more.
But ye brethren are not in darkness, that that day should come on you as it were a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, neither of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep as do others: but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep, sleep in the night: and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night. But let us which are of the day be sober, armed with the breast plate of faith and love, and with hope of salvation as a helmet. For God hath not appointed us unto wrath: but to obtain salvation by the means of our Lord Jesus Christ,
