Likewise, you husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, bestowing honor on the wife as the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered.

Husbands, love your wives, as the Christ also loved the church, and delivered himself up for it,

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

So then, they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man put asunder. They said to him: Why, then, did Moses command us to give a bill of divorce and put her away? He said to them: Moses, on account of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not so. But I say to you, That whoever puts away his wife, unless for lewdness, and marries another, commits adultery; and he that marries her that is put away, commits adultery.

but if she leave him, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and, let not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest, I, and not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife that believes not, and she is well pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.
