And Pharaoh's servants said to him, How long shall this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve LORD their God. Do thou not yet know that Egypt is destroyed?
And Saul said, I will give him her, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him. Therefore Saul said to David, Thou shall this day be my son-in-law a second time.
And I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, [and] whose hands are chains. He who pleases God shall escape from her, but the sinner shall be taken by her.
And they put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into strongholds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
Then the nations set against him on every side from the provinces, and they spread their net over him. He was taken in their pit.
Ephraim [was] a watchman with my God. As for the prophet, a fowler's snare is in all his ways, [and] enmity in the house of his God.
And the woman said to him, Behold, thou know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land. Why then do thou lay a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
know for a certainty that LORD your God will no more drive these nations from out of your sight, but they shall be a snare and a trap to you, and a scourge in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good
He takes all of them up with the hook. He catches them in his net, and gathers them in his drag. Therefore he rejoices and is glad. Therefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his drag, because by them his portion is fat, and his food plentiful. Shall he therefore empty his net, and not spare to kill the nations continually?
For without cause they have hid their net for me [in] a pit. Without cause have they dug [a pit] for my soul.
They have prepared a net for my steps. My soul is bowed down. They have dug a pit before me. They are fallen into the midst of it themselves. Selah.
who make a man an offender in [his] cause, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and turn aside the just with a thing of nothing.
The devout man has perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men. They all lay in wait for blood. They hunt every man his brother with a net.
He lurks in secret as a lion in his covert. He lays in wait to catch the poor man. He catches the poor man when he draws him in his net.
The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords. They have spread a net by the wayside. They have set snares for me. Selah.
For among my people are found wicked men. They watch as fowlers lay in wait. They set a trap; they catch men.
Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king, for to you pertains the judgment. For ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, thou knew my path. In the way in which I walk they have hidden a snare for me.
Those also who seek after my life lay snares [for me]. And those who seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and meditate deceits all the day long.
The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not gone astray from thy precepts.
Let a cry be heard from their houses when thou shall bring a troop suddenly upon them, for they have dug a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
They encourage themselves in an evil purpose. They converse of laying snares secretly. They say, Who will see them?
Thy sons have fainted. They lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net. They are full of the wrath of LORD, the rebuke of thy God.
And they send some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians to him, so that they might catch him in talk.
Then the Pharisees having departed, they took counsel how they might trap him in his talk.
