Hebrews 6:16-18

It was not without an oath. Others were made priest without any oath. He became a priest with an oath when God said to him: Jehovah has sworn and he will feel no regret, you are a priest forever. (Psalm 110:4) Jesus became the guarantee of a better covenant. There have been many priests. This is because they have been prevented from continuing by death. He continues forever and therefore has his priesthood without change. He is able to save completely those who approach God through him, because he is always alive to intercede for them. Such a high priest as this was suitable for us. He is holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and higher than the heavens. He does not have a day-by-day need as the high priests do, first to offer up sacrifices for his own sins, then for those of the people. He sacrificed for sin once for all when he offered up himself. The Law appoints men as high priests who have weakness. But the oath that came after the Law appointed the Son who is perfect forever.

Deuteronomy 1:34-36

Jehovah heard what you said. He was angry and solemnly swore: Not one man of this evil generation will see that good land, which I swore to give your fathers, Except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it. I will give him and his descendants the land he walks on. This is because he followed Jehovah wholeheartedly.

Hebrews 3:10-11

I was disgusted (angry) with this generation, and said: 'They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known my ways.' So I swore in my anger: 'They will not enter into my rest.'
