Thou shalt rise up before grey hair and honour the face of the elder and fear thy God. I am the LORD.
Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.
Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.
The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is the gray head.
Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father, and the younger men as brethren,

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honour thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), that it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth.
Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
And Elihu, the son of Barachel, the Buzite, answered and said, I am younger, and ye are older; therefore, I was afraid, and I feared to declare unto you my opinion. I said, Days shall speak, and the multitude of years shall declare wisdom.
Then King Rehoboam consulted with the old men that had stood before Solomon, his father, while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people? And they spoke unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a slave unto this people this day and wilt serve them and answer them by speaking good words unto them, then they will be thy slaves for ever. But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him and who stood before him.

And they spoke unto him, saying, If thou wilt seek the good of this people and please them and speak good words to them, they will be thy slaves for ever. But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him.
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not until I have showed the strength of thy arm unto the next generation and thy power to every one that is to come,
Nun I have been young and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. He is ever merciful and lends, and his seed is a blessing.
I was wroth with my people; I have profaned my inheritance and given them into thine hand; thou didst show them no mercy; upon the ancient thou hast very heavily laid thy yoke.

And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the sons of Israel: And Aaron spoke all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses and did the signs before the eyes of the people. And the people believed; and hearing that the LORD had visited the sons of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed and worshipped.
Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke unto him and took of the spirit that was in him and gave it unto the seventy elders, and it came to pass that when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease.
But when any man hates his neighbour and lies in wait for him and rises up against him and smites him mortally that he dies and flees into one of these cities, then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, and he shall die.
then shall the father of the damsel and her mother take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city in the gate. And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter unto this man to wife, and he hates her; and, behold, he has given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a virgin; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.read more.
Then the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
And if the man does not desire to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders and say, My husband's brother refuses to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.
Let the elders that govern well be counted worthy of double honour, especially those who labour in the word and doctrine.
The Word is faithful, If anyone desires the office of a bishop, , he desires a difficult ministry. but a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, temperate, just, holy, gentle, holding fast the doctrine according to the faithful word, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
