Then said Jesus to Peter, Put up the sword into its scabbard. The cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour?

And going a little farther, he fell on his face and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, What! Could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing; but the flesh is weak. read more.
Again the second time he went away and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup cannot pass from me, unless I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again; for their eyes were weighed down. And leaving them, he went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

But Paul answered, What mean ye, weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.

Therefore we faint not, but even though the outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory: While we aim not at the things that are seen, but the things that are not seen: for the things that are seen are temporal, but the things that are not seen are eternal. read more.

For God hath shut up all together in disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all. O the depth of the riches, and wisdom, and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

For who hath resisted his will? Nay, but who art thou, O man, that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, out of the same mass to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour?

Moreover we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we reverenced them: Shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

Knowing that shortly I must put off my tabernacle, even as the Lord Jesus Christ shewed me.

Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

For whom the Lord loveth, he chastneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
