14 Bible Verses about Sepulchres

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees--hypocrites!--because you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and of everything unclean!

And [when] the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the [mother] of James, and Salome purchased fragrant spices so that they could go [and] anoint him. And very early in the morning on the first [day] of the week they came to the tomb [after] the sun had risen.

But Mary stood outside at the tomb, weeping. Then, while she was weeping, she bent over to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white, seated one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been lying. And they said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him!"read more.
[When she] had said these [things], she turned {around} and saw Jesus standing there, and she did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She thought that it was the gardener, [and] said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him." Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned around [and] said to him in Aramaic, "Rabboni" (which means "Teacher"). Jesus said to her, "Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.'"

"Hear us, my lord, you [are] a mighty prince in our midst. Bury your dead in the choicest of our burial sites. None of us {will withhold his burial site} from you [for] burying your dead."

And he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab opposite Beth Peor. But until this day no one knows his burial site.

Then his officers carried him to Jerusalem, and they buried him in his tomb with his ancestors in the city of David.

And they buried him in his burial site, which had been cut out for him in the city of David. And they laid him on the bier which they had filled with all kinds of spices made [by] the perfumers as a fragment ointment. And they made a great fire in his honor.

Pilate said to them, "You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make [it] as secure as you know how."

And [while] they were going, behold, some of the guard of soldiers went into the city [and] reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. And [after they] had assembled with the elders and had taken counsel, they gave a rather large sum of money to the soldiers, telling [them], "Say 'His disciples came during the night [and] stole him [while] we were sleeping.'read more.
And if this [matter] is heard before the governor, we will satisfy him and {keep you out of trouble}." So they took the money [and] did as they were told, and spread abroad this report among the Jews until this very day.

He made his grave with [the] wicked, and with [the] rich in his death, although he had done no violence, and [there was] no deceit in his mouth.

and placed it in his [own] new tomb that he had cut in the rock. And he rolled a large stone to the entrance of the tomb [and] went away.

And [when] his disciples heard [this], they came and took away his corpse and placed it in a tomb.

"Men [and] brothers, it is possible to speak with confidence to you about the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us until this day.

Now on the first [day] of the week, at very early dawn, they came back to the tomb bringing the fragrant spices which they had prepared.
