Now the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, and so they had a meeting.
Then He asked them, "Is it right to do people good on the Sabbath, or to do them evil, to save life or to take it?" But they had nothing to say.
So they could not use what he said before the people, and in astonishment at His answer they said no more.
and since they saw the man who had been cured standing with them, they had nothing to say in reply.
Now we know that everything the law says is spoken to those who are under its authority, that every mouth may be stopped and the whole world be held responsible to God.
Now this was the passage of Scripture that he was reading: "Like a sheep He was led away to be slaughtered, and just as a lamb is dumb before its shearer, so He does not open His mouth.
But Jesus kept silent. So the high priest said to Him, "I charge you, on your oath, in the name of the living God, tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God."
But He kept silent and made no answer at all. So the high priest again questioned Him in these words, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"
But He did not answer him a single word, so that the governor was dumbfounded beyond expression.
Then again Pilate asked Him, "Have you no answer to make? Just see how many charges they are making against you!" But Jesus made no further answer at all, so that Pilate was astonished.
and went back into the governor's palace and asked Jesus, "Where do you come from?" But Jesus made no answer.
So he continued to question Him for a long time, but Jesus gave him no answer at all.
Jesus reproved him, saying, "Hush up, get out of him!" Then the foul spirit convulsed him and with a deafening shriek got out of him.
But Jesus reproved him, saying "Be quiet! Get out of him at once!" So the demon threw the man down in the midst of them and came out of him without doing him any harm.
Then He aroused Himself and reproved the wind, and said to the sea, "Hush! Be still." And the wind lulled, and there was a great calm.
When He broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found to be alone. And they kept silence and told no one anything that they had seen at that time.
By this he quieted the whole congregation, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul tell of the signs and wonders which God had done through them among the heathen.
When the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples and encouraged them. Then he bade them goodbye and started off for Macedonia.
