16 Bible Verses about The Needy

O hear this word, ye fat cows, that be upon the hill of Samaria; yea, that do poor men wrong, and oppress the needy; yea, that say to your lords, 'Bring hither, let us drink.'

wherethrough the poor are oppressed on every side, and the innocents of my people are therewith robbed of judgment: that widows may be your prey, and that ye may rob the fatherless.

For the poor shall not always be forgotten; the patient abiding of the meek shall not perish forever.

All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him? Yea, the poor, and him that is in misery, from him that spoileth him?"

In his time shall the righteous flourish, yea, and abundance of peace, so long as the moon endureth. His dominion shall be from the one sea to the other, and from the flood unto the world's end. They that dwell in the wilderness shall kneel before him, and his enemies shall lick the dust. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall give presents; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall bring gifts. All kings shall fall down before him; all nations shall do him service. For he shall deliver the poor when he crieth, and the needy that hath no help. He shall be favorable to the simple and poor; he shall preserve the souls of such as be in adversity.

Which taketh up the simple out of the dust, and lifteth the poor out of the mire,

For thou art the poor man's help, and strength for the needful in his necessity. Thou art a defense against evil weather and a shadow against the heat, when the blast of the raging men is like a storm that casteth down a wall.

Thou shalt not defraud a hired servant that is needy and poor, whether he be of thy brethren or a stranger that is in thy land within thy cities.

Yea when he helped the oppressed and poor to their right, then prospered he well. From whence came this? But only because he had me before his eyes, sayeth the LORD.

Then shall the righteous answer him saying, 'Master, when saw we thee a hungered, and fed thee? Or athirst, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee harborless, and lodged thee? Or naked and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison and came unto thee?' And the King shall answer and say unto them, 'Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.'

For he shall deliver the poor when he crieth, and the needy that hath no help. He shall be favorable to the simple and poor; he shall preserve the souls of such as be in adversity. He shall deliver their souls from extortion and wrong, and dear shall their blood be in his sight.

When the thirsty and poor seek water, and find none, and when their tongue is dry of thirst: I give it them, sayeth the LORD. I, the God of Israel, forsake them not.

Defend the poor and fatherless, see that such as be in need and necessity have right.
