Be not afraid, for I will be with thee. Look not behind thee, for I will be thy God, to strengthen thee, help thee, and to keep thee with this righthand of mine. Behold, all they that resist thee, shall come to confusion and shame: and thine adversaries shall be destroyed and brought to naught. So that whoso seeketh after them, shall not find them. Thy destroyers shall perish, and so shall they that undertake to make battle against thee.

"Behold, I send mine angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.

He will keep the feet of his saints but the wicked shall keep silence in darkness. For in his own might shall no man be strong.

Woe be unto them that go down into Egypt for help, and trust in horses, and comfort themselves in chariots, because they be many, and in horsemen because they be lusty and strong. But they regard not the holy one of Israel, and they ask no question at the LORD.

At that same time, Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "Because thou trustedest in the king of Syria, and trustest not in the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand. Were not the black Moors and they of Libya a great host with exceeding many chariots and horsemen? And yet because thou trustedest in the LORD, he delivered them into thine hands. For the eyes of the LORD behold all the earth, to strengthen the hearts of them that are whole with him. Herein thou hast done foolishly, and therefore from henceforth thou shalt have war."

And he said, "Fear not, there are more with us than with them." And Elisha prayed and said, "LORD open the eyes of the young man," and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Now know I that the LORD helpeth his anointed, and will hear him from his holy heaven, even with the wholesome strength of his righthand. Some put their trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen, but we are risen and stand upright.

The angel of the LORD pitcheth his tent round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Wherefore thus sayeth the LORD, of the king of Assyria: He shall not come to this city, nor shoot arrow into it, nor come before with shield nor cast any bank against it - but shall go back again the way he came, and shall not come at this city, sayeth the LORD. For I will defend this city and save it, for mine own sake and for David my servant's sake."

A small thing that the righteous hath, is better than the great riches of the ungodly. For the arms of the ungodly shall be broken, and the LORD upholdeth the righteous. The LORD knoweth the days of the godly, and their inheritance shall endure forever.read more.
They shall not be confounded in the perilous time; and in the days of dearth they shall have enough.

Thou that givest victory unto kings, and hast delivered David thy servant from the peril of the sword.

Therefore thus sayeth the LORD, concerning the king of the Assyrians, 'He shall not come into the city, and shall shoot no arrow into it, there shall no shield hurt it, neither shall they grave about it. The same way that he came, shall he return, and not come at this city, sayeth the LORD. And I will keep and save the city, sayeth he: for mine own, and for my servant David's sake.'"

{A song of the stairs} They that put their trust in the LORD are even as the mount Zion, which may not be removed, but standeth fast forever. The hills stand about Jerusalem; even so standeth the LORD round about his people, from this time forth for evermore.

And I will lengthen thy days yet fifteen years, and will deliver both thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and will defend this city for mine own sake, and for David my servant's sake."

This shall be a token or testimony unto the LORD of Hosts in the land of Egypt, when they shall cry unto him, because of those that oppress them. And he shall send them a Captain and a Saviour to deliver them.

and deliver thee and the city also, from the hand of the king of Assyria, for I will defend the city.

God is well known in her palaces, that he is the defense of the same.

Assyria shall not save us, neither will we ride on horses: neither will we say to the works of our own hands, 'Ye are our Gods,' for thou hast compassion on the friendless.

Behold, I make the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and he maketh a weapon after his handy work. I make also the waster to destroy: but all the weapons that are made against thee, shall not prosper. And as for all tongues that shall resist thee in judgment, thou shalt overcome them, and condemn them. This is the heritage of the LORD's servants, and the righteousness that they shall have of me, sayeth the LORD.

Like as birds flutter about their nests, so shall the LORD of Hosts keep, save, defend and deliver Jerusalem.

O keep my soul, and deliver me; let me not be confounded, for I have put my trust in thee.

But their avenger and redeemer is mighty, whose name is the LORD of Hosts: he shall maintain their cause, he shall make the land shake, and judge them that dwell therein, one with another.

When Hezekiah had received the letter of the hand of the messenger and had read it, he went into the house of the LORD and laid it abroad before the LORD. But of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed nations and their lands, and have set fire on their gods. For they were no gods - but the work of the hands of man; even wood and stone. And therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore LORD our God, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know, that thou LORD art God alone."

and said unto him, 'Run, speak to this young man, and say: Jerusalem shall be inhabited without any wall, for the very multitude of people and cattle, that shall be therein: Yea, I myself, sayeth the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be honored in her.'

Therefore thus sayeth the LORD: Behold, I will defend thy cause, and avenge thee: I will drink up her sea, and dry up her water springs.

Now when Hezekiah had received the letter of the messengers, and read it; he went up into the house of the LORD, and opened the letter before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD on this manner, "O LORD of Hosts, thou God of Israel, which dwellest upon Cherubim; Thou art the God, that only is God of all the kingdoms of the world, for thou only hast created heaven and earth.read more.
Incline thine ear LORD, and consider, open thine eyes, O LORD, and see; and ponder all the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent his embassage to blaspheme the living God. It is true, O LORD, that the kings of Assyria have conquered all kingdoms and lands, and cast their gods in the fire. Notwithstanding, those were no gods; but the works of men's hands, of wood or stone, therefore have they destroyed them. In that day shall the LORD defend the citizens of Jerusalem: so that the weakest then among them shall be as David: and the house of David shall be like as God's house, and as the Angel of the LORD before them.

And so will I compass my house round about with my men of war going to and fro: that no oppressor come upon them any more. For that have I seen now with mine eyes.

And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter. And upon this rock, I will build my congregation: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And thereto he wrote a letter to rail on the LORD God of Israel and spake therein, saying, "As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, no more shall the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand."

Keep me as the apple of an eye; hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

And I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father which gave them me, is greater than all men; and no man is able to take them out of my father's hand.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his tabernacle; yea in the secret place of his dwelling shall he hide me, and set me up upon a rock of stone.

At my first answering for myself, no man assisted me, but all forsook me. I pray God, that it may not be laid to their charges: notwithstanding the Lord assisted me, and strengthed me, that by me the preaching should be fulfilled to the utmost and that all the gentiles should hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from all evil doing, and shall keep me unto his heavenly kingdom. To whom be praise for ever and ever. Amen.

Awake, and stand up to judge my quarrel; avenge thou my cause, my God and my LORD.

Arise, O God, and maintain thine own cause; remember how the foolish man blasphemeth thee daily.

Thou shalt hide them privily by thine own presence from the provoking of all men; thou shalt keep them secretly in thy tabernacle from the strife of tongues.

that is the dwelling place of God from the beginning, and from under the arms of the world. He hath cast out thine enemies before thee and said, 'Destroy.'

Blessed be God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which through his abundant mercy begat us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death, to enjoy an inheritance immortal, and undefiled, and that perisheth not; reserved in heaven for you which are kept by the power of God through salvation, which salvation is prepared already to be showed in the last time,

He is a father of the fatherless, he is a defender of widows; even God in his holy habitation.

The LORD careth for the strangers; he defendeth the fatherless and widow. As for the way of the ungodly, he turneth it upside down.

The fear of the LORD is a stronghold; and his children are under a sure defense.

Remove not the old landmark, and come not within the field of the fatherless. For he that delivereth them is mighty, even he shall defend their cause against thee.

The name of the LORD is a strong castle, the righteous flyeth unto it, and shall be saved.

I desire not that thou shouldest take them out of the world: but that thou keep them from evil.

Full gracious is the LORD, and a stronghold in time of trouble. He knoweth them that put their trust in him:

What shall we then say unto these things? if God be on our side: who can be against us? Which spared not his own son, but gave him for us all: How shall he not with him give us all things also? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's chosen? It is God that justifieth:read more.
who then shall condemn? It is Christ which is dead; Yea rather which is risen again, which is also on the righthand of God and maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of God? Shall tribulation? Or anguish? Or persecution, other hunger? Other nakedness? Other peril? Other sword? As it is written, "For thy sake are we killed all day long, and are counted as sheep appointed to be slain." Nevertheless, in all these things we overcome strongly through his help that loved us. Yea and I am sure that neither death, neither life, neither angels; nor rule, neither power, neither things present, neither things to come, neither height, neither lowth, neither any other creature shall be able to depart us from the love of God, showed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

But let Israel trust in the LORD, for he is their succor and defense. Let the house of Aaron put their trust in the LORD, for he is their helper and defender. They that fear the LORD, let them put their trust in the LORD, for he is their aid and their shield.

And the Lord shall deliver me from all evil doing, and shall keep me unto his heavenly kingdom. To whom be praise for ever and ever. Amen.

And what shall I more say? The time would be too short for me to tell of Gideon, of Barach, and of Samson, and of Jephthah. Also of David and Samuel, and of the prophets, which through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained the promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, of weak were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.read more.
And the women received their dead raised to life again. Others were racked, and would not be delivered, that they might receive a better resurrection. Be sober, and watch. For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist, steadfast in the faith, remembering that ye do but fulfill the same afflictions which are appointed to your brethren that are in the world. The God of all grace - which called you unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus - shall his own self, after ye have suffered a little affliction, make you perfect: shall settle, strengthen, and establish you.

For the LORD God is a light and defense; the LORD will give grace and worship, and no good thing shall he withhold from them that live a godly life.

Thou art my defense and shield; and my trust is in thy word.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil shall cast of you into prison, to tempt you, and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be faithful unto the death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

All the words of God are pure and clean, for he is a shield unto all them that put their trust in him.

And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, "What are these which are arrayed in long white garments, and whence came they?" And I said unto him, "Lord, thou knowest." And he said unto me, "These are they which came out of great tribulation and made their garments large, and made them white in the blood of the lamb: therefore are they in the presence of the seat of God and serve him day and night in his temple, and he that sitteth in the seat will dwell among them.read more.
