But they who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Then the chief captain took him by the hand and went aside privately, and asked him, What is it that thou hast to tell me? And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask thee to bring down Paul tomorrow into the council, as though thou wert about to inquire more thoroughly concerning him. But do not thou yield to them; for there lie in wait for him more than forty men of them, who have bound themselves with an oath neither to eat nor drink till they have killed him; and they are now ready, looking for the promise from thee.

Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, seeing their hypocrisy, said to them, Why are ye trying me? Bring me a denary, that I may see it.

And the Pharisees went forth, and immediately had a consultation with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
And they could not take hold of his words before the people; and marveling at his answer, they held their peace.
But this they said to try him, that they might be able to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
Judas then, having received the band of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with torches and lanterns and weapons. But Jesus, knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith to them, Whom do ye seek?
