For a bishop must be blameless as a steward of God, not self-indulgent, not soon angry, not given to wine, not contentious, not devoted to base gain,
feed the flock of God which is among you, not by constraint but willingly, not for base gain but of a ready mind,
I tell you most truly, he that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs in at some other place, he is a thief and robber; but he that enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gate-keeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his sheep by name, and leads them out.
For I know that after my departure grievous wolves will come among you, not sparing the flock,

But do you be sober in all things, endure evil, do the work of an evangelist, perform fully your ministry.

I write these things not to shame you, but as my beloved children, I admonish you.

Study these things, be much in them, that your improvement may be manifest to all. Attend to yourself, and to teaching; continue in it, for doing this you will both save yourself and those that hear you.
