'Away' in the Bible

So the Lord God sent him away from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.

Then Shem and Japheth took a cloak and placed it over both their shoulders, and walking backward, they covered their father’s nakedness. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father naked.

Then Pharaoh gave his men orders about him, and they sent him away with his wife and all he had.

Birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.

Abram replied to Sarai, “Here, your slave is in your hands; do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai mistreated her so much that she ran away from her.

He said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?”She replied, “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai.”

Abraham stepped forward and said, “Will You really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?

What if there are 50 righteous people in the city? Will You really sweep it away instead of sparing the place for the sake of the 50 righteous people who are in it?

At daybreak the angels urged Lot on: “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”

As soon as the angels got them outside, one of them said, “Run for your lives! Don’t look back and don’t stop anywhere on the plain! Run to the mountains, or you will be swept away!”

Early in the morning Abraham got up, took bread and a waterskin, put them on Hagar’s shoulders, and sent her and the boy away. She left and wandered in the Wilderness of Beer-sheba.

Then she went and sat down nearby, about a bowshot away, for she said, “I can’t bear to watch the boy die!” So as she sat nearby, she wept loudly.

But he responded to them, “Do not delay me, since the Lord has made my journey a success. Send me away so that I may go to my master.”

So they sent away their sister Rebekah with the one who had nursed and raised her, and Abraham’s servant and his men.

And Abraham gave gifts to the sons of his concubines, but while he was still alive he sent them eastward, away from his son Isaac, to the land of the East.

Then Jacob gave bread and lentil stew to Esau; he ate, drank, got up, and went away. So Esau despised his birthright.

Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me? You hated me and sent me away from you.”

You will not harm us, just as we have not harmed you but have only done what was good to you, sending you away in peace. You are now blessed by the Lord.”

Then his father Isaac answered him:Look, your dwelling place will beaway from the richness of the land,away from the dew of the sky above.

until your brother’s rage turns away from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send for you and bring you back from there. Why should I lose you both in one day?”

She conceived and bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my shame.”

Then Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done? You have deceived me and taken my daughters away like prisoners of war!

Why did you secretly flee from me, deceive me, and not tell me? I would have sent you away with joy and singing, with tambourines and lyres,

They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with their swords, took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and went away.

Esau took his wives, sons, daughters, and all the people of his household, as well as his herds, all his livestock, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan; he went to a land away from his brother Jacob.

He turned away from them and wept. Then he turned back and spoke to them. He took Simeon from them and had him bound before their eyes.

Joseph could no longer keep his composure in front of all his attendants, so he called out, “Send everyone away from me!” No one was with him when he revealed his identity to his brothers.

When I rest with my fathers, carry me away from Egypt and bury me in their burial place.”Joseph answered, “I will do what you have asked.”
