“They have heard that I groan;There is no one to comfort me;All my enemies have heard of my calamity;They are glad that You have done it.Oh, that You would bring the day which You have proclaimed,That they may become like me.

How the Lord has covered the daughter of ZionWith a cloud in His anger!He has cast from heaven to earthThe glory of Israel,And has not remembered His footstoolIn the day of His anger.

The Lord has rejected His altar,He has abandoned His sanctuary;He has delivered into the hand of the enemyThe walls of her palaces.They have made a noise in the house of the LordAs in the day of an appointed feast.

All your enemiesHave opened their mouths wide against you;They hiss and gnash their teeth.They say, “We have swallowed her up!Surely this is the day for which we waited;We have reached it, we have seen it.”

Their heart cried out to the Lord,“O wall of the daughter of Zion,Let your tears run down like a river day and night;Give yourself no relief,Let your eyes have no rest.

On the ground in the streetsLie young and old;My virgins and my young menHave fallen by the sword.You have slain them in the day of Your anger,You have slaughtered, not sparing.

You called as in the day of an appointed feastMy terrors on every side;And there was no one who escaped or survivedIn the day of the Lord’s anger.Those whom I bore and reared,My enemy annihilated them.

Surely against me He has turned His handRepeatedly all the day.

The lips of my assailants and their whisperingAre against me all day long.

Now it came about in the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was by the river Chebar among the exiles, the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.

As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.

Then He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.

When you have completed these, you shall lie down a second time, but on your right side and bear the iniquity of the house of Judah; I have assigned it to you for forty days, a day for each year.

Your food which you eat shall be twenty shekels a day by weight; you shall eat it from time to time.

Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land. The time has come, the day is near—tumult rather than joyful shouting on the mountains.

‘Behold, the day! Behold, it is coming! Your doom has gone forth; the rod has budded, arrogance has blossomed.

The time has come, the day has arrived. Let not the buyer rejoice nor the seller mourn; for wrath is against all their multitude.

They will fling their silver into the streets and their gold will become an abhorrent thing; their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord. They cannot satisfy their appetite nor can they fill their stomachs, for their iniquity has become an occasion of stumbling.

It came about in the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, as I was sitting in my house with the elders of Judah sitting before me, that the hand of the Lord God fell on me there.

Therefore, son of man, prepare for yourself baggage for exile and go into exile by day in their sight; even go into exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand though they are a rebellious house.

Bring your baggage out by day in their sight, as baggage for exile. Then you will go out at evening in their sight, as those going into exile.

I did so, as I had been commanded. By day I brought out my baggage like the baggage of an exile. Then in the evening I dug through the wall with my hands; I went out in the dark and carried the baggage on my shoulder in their sight.

You have not gone up into the breaches, nor did you build the wall around the house of Israel to stand in the battle on the day of the Lord.

As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for cleansing; you were not rubbed with salt or even wrapped in cloths.

No eye looked with pity on you to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you. Rather you were thrown out into the open field, for you were abhorred on the day you were born.

As the name of your sister Sodom was not heard from your lips in your day of pride,

and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “On the day when I chose Israel and swore to the descendants of the house of Jacob and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, I am the Lord your God,

on that day I swore to them, to bring them out from the land of Egypt into a land that I had selected for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.

Then I said to them, ‘What is the high place to which you go?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’

When you offer your gifts, when you cause your sons to pass through the fire, you are defiling yourselves with all your idols to this day. And shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” declares the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.

And you, O slain, wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day has come, in the time of the punishment of the end,’

while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies for you—to place you on the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come, in the time of the punishment of the end.

You have become guilty by the blood which you have shed, and defiled by your idols which you have made. Thus you have brought your day near and have come to your years; therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations and a mocking to all the lands.

“Son of man, say to her, ‘You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.’

Again, they have done this to Me: they have defiled My sanctuary on the same day and have profaned My sabbaths.

For when they had slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered My sanctuary on the same day to profane it; and lo, thus they did within My house.

“Son of man, write the name of the day, this very day. The king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem this very day.

‘As for you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their stronghold, the joy of their pride, the desire of their eyes and their heart’s delight, their sons and their daughters,

that on that day he who escapes will come to you with information for your ears?

On that day your mouth will be opened to him who escaped, and you will speak and be mute no longer. Thus you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the Lord.’”

‘Now the coastlands will trembleOn the day of your fall;Yes, the coastlands which are by the seaWill be terrified at your passing.’”

“Your wealth, your wares, your merchandise,Your sailors and your pilots,Your repairers of seams, your dealers in merchandiseAnd all your men of war who are in you,With all your company that is in your midst,Will fall into the heart of the seasOn the day of your overthrow.

“You were in Eden, the garden of God;Every precious stone was your covering:The ruby, the topaz and the diamond;The beryl, the onyx and the jasper;The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald;And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets,Was in you.On the day that you were createdThey were prepared.

“You were blameless in your waysFrom the day you were createdUntil unrighteousness was found in you.

“On that day I will make a horn sprout for the house of Israel, and I will open your mouth in their midst. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

“Son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God,“Wail, ‘Alas for the day!’

“For the day is near,Even the day of the Lord is near;It will be a day of clouds,A time of doom for the nations.

On that day messengers will go forth from Me in ships to frighten secure Ethiopia; and anguish will be on them as on the day of Egypt; for behold, it comes!”

“In Tehaphnehes the day will be darkWhen I break there the yoke bars of Egypt.Then the pride of her power will cease in her;A cloud will cover her,And her daughters will go into captivity.

‘Thus says the Lord God, “On the day when it went down to Sheol I caused lamentations; I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it.

I will make many peoples appalled at you, and their kings will be horribly afraid of you when I brandish My sword before them; and they will tremble every moment, every man for his own life, on the day of your fall.”

And you, son of man, say to your fellow citizens, ‘The righteousness of a righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not stumble because of it in the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous man will not be able to live by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.’

As a shepherd cares for his herd in the day when he is among his scattered sheep, so I will care for My sheep and will deliver them from all the places to which they were scattered on a cloudy and gloomy day.

‘Thus says the Lord God, “On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places will be rebuilt.

‘Thus says the Lord God, “It will come about on that day, that thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil plan,

“Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “On that day when My people Israel are living securely, will you not know it?

It will come about on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” declares the Lord God, “that My fury will mount up in My anger.

In My zeal and in My blazing wrath I declare that on that day there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel.

Behold, it is coming and it shall be done,” declares the Lord God. “That is the day of which I have spoken.

“On that day I will give Gog a burial ground there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea, and it will block off those who would pass by. So they will bury Gog there with all his horde, and they will call it the valley of Hamon-gog.

Even all the people of the land will bury them; and it will be to their renown on the day that I glorify Myself,” declares the Lord God.

And the house of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God from that day onward.

In the twenty-fifth year of our exile, at the beginning of the year, on the tenth of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was taken, on that same day the hand of the Lord was upon me and He brought me there.

And He said to me, “Son of man, thus says the Lord God, ‘These are the statutes for the altar on the day it is built, to offer burnt offerings on it and to sprinkle blood on it.

‘On the second day you shall offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering, and they shall cleanse the altar as they cleansed it with the bull.

When they have completed the days, it shall be that on the eighth day and onward, the priests shall offer your burnt offerings on the altar, and your peace offerings; and I will accept you,’ declares the Lord God.”

On the day that he goes into the sanctuary, into the inner court to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering,” declares the Lord God.

Thus you shall do on the seventh day of the month for everyone who goes astray or is naive; so you shall make atonement for the house.

“In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall have the Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.

On that day the prince shall provide for himself and all the people of the land a bull for a sin offering.

During the seven days of the feast he shall provide as a burnt offering to the Lord seven bulls and seven rams without blemish on every day of the seven days, and a male goat daily for a sin offering.

In the seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, at the feast, he shall provide like this, seven days for the sin offering, the burnt offering, the grain offering and the oil.”

‘Thus says the Lord God, “The gate of the inner court facing east shall be shut the six working days; but it shall be opened on the sabbath day and opened on the day of the new moon.

The burnt offering which the prince shall offer to the Lord on the sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish and a ram without blemish;

On the day of the new moon he shall offer a young bull without blemish, also six lambs and a ram, which shall be without blemish.

When the prince provides a freewill offering, a burnt offering, or peace offerings as a freewill offering to the Lord, the gate facing east shall be opened for him. And he shall provide his burnt offering and his peace offerings as he does on the sabbath day. Then he shall go out, and the gate shall be shut after he goes out.

The city shall be 18,000 cubits round about; and the name of the city from that day shall be, ‘The Lord is there.’”

Now when Daniel knew that the document was signed, he entered his house (now in his roof chamber he had windows open toward Jerusalem); and he continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.

Then they answered and spoke before the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the injunction which you signed, but keeps making his petition three times a day.”

Then the king arose at dawn, at the break of day, and went in haste to the lions’ den.

“Righteousness belongs to You, O Lord, but to us open shame, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You.

“And now, O Lord our God, who have brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and have made a name for Yourself, as it is this day—we have sinned, we have been wicked.

On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, while I was by the bank of the great river, that is, the Tigris,

Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words.

On that day I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.”

And the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together,And they will appoint for themselves one leader,And they will go up from the land,For great will be the day of Jezreel.

Or I will strip her nakedAnd expose her as on the day when she was born.I will also make her like a wilderness,Make her like desert landAnd slay her with thirst.

“Then I will give her her vineyards from there,And the valley of Achor as a door of hope.And she will sing there as in the days of her youth,As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.

“It will come about in that day,” declares the Lord,“That you will call Me IshiAnd will no longer call Me Baali.

“In that day I will also make a covenant for themWith the beasts of the field,The birds of the skyAnd the creeping things of the ground.And I will abolish the bow, the sword and war from the land,And will make them lie down in safety.

“It will come about in that day that I will respond,” declares the Lord.“I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth,

So you will stumble by day,And the prophet also will stumble with you by night;And I will destroy your mother.

Ephraim will become a desolation in the day of rebuke;Among the tribes of Israel I declare what is sure.

“He will revive us after two days;He will raise us up on the third day,That we may live before Him.

On the day of our king, the princes became sick with the heat of wine;He stretched out his hand with scoffers,

What will you do on the day of the appointed festivalAnd on the day of the feast of the Lord?

Therefore a tumult will arise among your people,And all your fortresses will be destroyed,As Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle,When mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.

Alas for the day!For the day of the Lord is near,And it will come as destruction from the Almighty.

Blow a trumpet in Zion,And sound an alarm on My holy mountain!Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,For the day of the Lord is coming;Surely it is near,
