'End' in the Bible
The prophets prophesy falsely,and the priests rule by their own authority.My people love it like this.But what will you do at the end of it?
How long will the land mournand the grass of every field wither?Because of the evil of its residents,animals and birds have been swept away,for the people have said,“He cannot see what our end will be.”
Over all the barren heights in the wildernessthe destroyers have come,for the Lord has a sword that devoursfrom one end of the earth to the other.No one has peace.
“Therefore, this is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, though I did not send them, and who say, ‘There will never be sword or famine in this land.’ By sword and famine these prophets will meet their end.
He who makes a fortune unjustlyis like a partridge that hatches eggs it didn’t lay.In the middle of his dayshis riches will abandon him,so in the end he will be a fool.
Why did I come out of the wombto see only struggle and sorrow,to end my life in shame?
Those slain by the Lord on that day will be spread from one end of the earth to the other. They will not be mourned, gathered, or buried. They will be like manure on the surface of the ground.
At the end of seven years, each of you must free his Hebrew brother who sold himself to you. He may serve you six years, but then you must send him out free from you. But your ancestors did not obey Me or pay any attention.
Now at the end of 10 days, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah,
And I will take away the remnant of Judah, those who have resolved to go to the land of Egypt to live there for a while; they will meet their end. All of them in the land of Egypt will fall by the sword; they will meet their end by famine. From the least to the greatest, they will die by the sword and by famine. Then they will become an object of cursing, scorn, execration, and disgrace.
but from the time we ceased to burn incense to the queen of heaven and to offer her drink offerings, we have lacked everything, and through sword and famine we have met our end.”
I am watching over them for disaster and not for good, and every man of Judah who is in the land of Egypt will meet his end by sword or famine until they are finished off.
You who reside by many waters,rich in treasures,your end has come,your life thread is cut.
Messenger races to meet messenger,and herald to meet herald,to announce to the king of Babylonthat his city has been capturedfrom end to end.
Then say, ‘In the same way, Babylon will sink and never rise again because of the disaster I am bringing on her. They will grow weary.’”The words of Jeremiah end here.
