'Head' in the Bible
But you, Yahweh, [are] a shield around me, my glory and the one who lifts up my head.
His trouble comes back on his head, and his violence comes down on his skull.
You rescued me from strife with people; you set me as head (over) nations. People I did not know served me;
For you meet him [with] blessings of good [things]. You set on his head a crown of fine gold.
All [who] see me mock me. They open wide [their] lips; they shake [the] head, [saying]:
You prepare before me a table in the presence of my oppressors. You anoint my head with oil; my cup [is] overflowing.
And now my head will be high over my enemies round about me. And I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh.
For my iniquities have passed over my head; like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
For evils without number have encompassed me. My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails me.
You have made us a byword among the nations, a shaking of [the] head among [the] peoples.
Gilead [is] mine, and Manasseh [is] mine, and Ephraim [is] the {helmet for} my head; Judah [is] my scepter.
But God will shatter the head of his enemies, the hairy scalp [of the one who] {continues on} in his guilt.
More numerous than the hairs of my head are [those] hating me without a cause. [Those who are] destroying me--my enemies wrongfully-- are mighty. What I did not steal, I then must restore.
For look, your enemies roar, and those who hate you have lifted [their] head.
Gilead [is] mine. Manasseh [is] mine. And Ephraim [is] the {helmet for} my head. Judah [is] my scepter;
He will drink from [the] stream by the road; therefore he will lift up [his] head.
[It is] like the fragrant oil upon the head, running down upon the beard, the beard of Aaron, that runs down upon the edges of his robes.
O Yahweh, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you have covered my head in [the] day of battle.
[With respect to the] head of [those who] surround me, may the harm of their lips cover them.
Let a righteous one strike me in kindness, and let him chasten me. [It is] oil for [my] head; let not my head refuse. For still my prayer [is] against their evil deeds.
