'Loins' in the Bible
So Jacob tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his loins and mourned for his son many days.

Then he said to Gehazi, “Gird up your loins and take my staff in your hand, and go your way; if you meet any man, do not salute him, and if anyone salutes you, do not answer him; and lay my staff on the lad’s face.”
Now Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, “Gird up your loins, and take this flask of oil in your hand and go to Ramoth-gilead.

Now, gird up your loins and arise, and speak to them all which I command you. Do not be dismayed before them, or I will dismay you before them.
‘Ask now, and seeIf a male can give birth.Why do I see every manWith his hands on his loins, as a woman in childbirth?And why have all faces turned pale?
For every head is bald and every beard cut short; there are gashes on all the hands and sackcloth on the loins.
