'Resists' in the Bible

So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves.

But He gives greater grace. Therefore He says:God resists the proud,but gives grace to the humble.

In the same way, you younger men, be subject to the elders. And all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, becauseGod resists the proudbut gives grace to the humble.
