'Wretched' in the Bible
In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits; every hand of the wretched shall come upon him.
He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he slay the innocent: his eyes watch for the wretched.
He croucheth, he boweth down, that the wretched may fall by his strong ones.
Thou hast seen it, for thou thyself beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite by thy hand. The wretched committeth himself unto thee; thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.
And I said, Surely these are the wretched ones, they are foolish; for they know not the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God.
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of this body of death?
Be wretched, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
