'Counts' in the Bible
“He has also kindled His wrath [like a fire] against meAnd He considers and counts me as one of His adversaries.
‘Behold, He invents pretexts against me;He counts me as His enemy.
“He considers iron as straw,Bronze as rotten wood.
Though while he lives he counts himself happy and prosperous—And though people praise you when you do well for yourself—
He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them.
And now the Lord says, “In three years, as a hired worker counts years, Moab’s splendor will become an object of contempt, in spite of a very large population. And those who are left will be few and weak.”
For the Lord said this to me: “Within one year, as a hired worker counts years, all the glory of Kedar will be gone.
Your heart will meditate on terror:“Where is he who counts?Where is he who weighs?Where is he who counts the towers?”
The flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them in the cities of the hill country, the cities of the Judean foothills, the cities of the Negev, the land of Benjamin—the cities surrounding Jerusalem and Judah’s cities, says the Lord.
“I will make you pass under the rod [as the shepherd does with his sheep when he counts them, and I will count you as Mine and constrain you] and bring you into the bond of the covenant [to which you are permanently bound].
Circumcision does indeed profit, if you obey the Law; but if you are a Law-breaker, the fact that you have been circumcised counts for nothing.
Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,
For if it is the righteous through Law who are heirs, then faith is useless and the promise counts for nothing.
So neither the one who plants counts for anything, nor the one who waters, but God who causes the growth.
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Instead, keeping God's commandments is what counts.
We are not again commending ourselves to your favour, but are furnishing you with a ground of boasting on our behalf, so that you may have a reply ready for those with whom superficial appearances are everything and sincerity of heart counts for nothing.
For [if we are] in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but only faith activated and expressed and working through love.
For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation!
