'Gain' in the Bible

For the wicked boasts and sings the praises of his heart’s desire,And the greedy man curses and spurns [and even despises] the Lord.

“What gain is there in my death,if I go down to the Pit?Will the dust praise You?Will it proclaim Your truth?

Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression! Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery! If wealth increases, do not become attached to it!

So teach [us] to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Turn my heart to Your decreesand not to material gain.

I gain understanding from Your precepts;therefore I hate every false way.

Direct my steps in your word, and do not let any iniquity gain power over me.
