And so we gather, faith is a result of teaching, and the teaching comes in the Message of Christ.
For, if with your lips you acknowledge the truth of the Message that JESUS IS LORD, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.
Faith is the realization of things hoped for--the proof of things not seen.
And therefore I say to you 'Have faith that whatever you ask for in prayer is already granted you, and you will find that it will be.'
As for yourself--keep this faith of yours to yourself, as in the presence of God. Happy is he who never has to condemn himself in regard to the very thing which he thinks right!
"The work that God would have you do," answered Jesus, "is to believe in him whom God sent as his Messenger."
But, as I have said already, you have seen me, and yet you do not believe in me.
As the passage of Scripture says--'No one who believes in him shall have any cause for shame.'
But these have been recorded that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God--and that, through your belief in his Name, you may have Life.
"Is it because you have seen me that you have believed?" said Jesus. "Blessed are they who have not seen, and yet have believed!"
If I am doing it, even though you do not believe me, believe what that work shows; so that you may understand, and understand more and more clearly, that the Father is in union with me, and I with the Father."
But Jesus, overhearing what they were saying, said to the President of the Synagogue: "Do not be afraid; only have faith."
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
May God, who inspires our hope, grant you perfect happiness and peace in your faith, till you are filled with this hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
For Christ has brought Law to an end, so that righteousness may be obtained by every one who believes in him.

The reason why they were unable to believe is given by Isaiah elsewhere, in these words--
Here is the one thing that I want to find out from you--Did you receive the Spirit as the result of obedience to Law, or of your having listened with faith?
As to Sin, for men do not believe in me;
Jesus heard of their having put him out; and, when he had found the man, he asked: "Do you believe in the Son of Man?"
In fulfillment of the words of the Prophet Isaiah, where he says--'Lord, who has believed our teaching? And to whom has the might of the Lord been revealed?'
But, though Jesus had given so many signs of his mission before their eyes, they still did not believe in him,
This, however, I do acknowledge to you, that it is as a believer in the Cause which they call heretical, that I worship the God of my ancestors. At the same time, I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the prophets;
And, therefore, those whose lives are based on faith share the blessings bestowed upon the faith of Abraham.
But, in the same spirit of faith as that expressed in the words--'I believed, and therefore I spoke,' we, also believe, and therefore speak.
In just the same way faith, if not followed by actions, is, by itself, a lifeless thing.
The Divine Righteousness which is bestowed, through faith in Jesus Christ, upon all, without distinction, who believe in him.
"Believe in Jesus, our Lord," they replied, "and you shall be saved, you and your household too."
We see, then, that they failed to enter upon it because of their want of faith.
Because it was owing to him that many of the Jews had left them, and were becoming believers in Jesus.

Though you have never seen him, yet you love him; though you do not even now see him, yet you believe in him, and exalt with a triumphant happiness too great for words, as you receive the reward of your faith in the Salvation of your souls!
