and through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you, whose judgment is not far off, and their damnation sleepeth not.

There were false prophets among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you: which privily shall bring in damnable sects, even denying the Lord that hath bought them, and bring upon themselves swift damnation.

Therefore your vision shall be turned to night, and your prophesying to darkness. The Sun shall go down over those prophets, and the day shall be dark unto them. Be not carried about with divers and strange learning. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace, and not with meats, which have not profited them that have had their pastime in them.

Foolish questions, and genealogies, and brawlings and strife about the law; avoid, for they are unprofitable, and superfluous.

If any man want light, let him look upon the law and the testimony whether they speak not after this meaning.

The spirit speaketh evidently that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, and shall give heed unto spirits of error,

For many shall come in my name saying, 'I am Christ': and shall deceive many.

If there come any unto you and bring not this learning, him receive not to house: neither bid him Godspeed.
