In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
In this love is perfected among us, that we may have confidence for the Day of Judgment, because as he is so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. And he who fears is not made perfect in love.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning, that you should walk in love.
