And he said to them, "O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?" And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures.

And he said to them, "Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"

At that very time some Pharisees came, and said to him, "Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you." And he said to them, "Go and tell that fox, 'Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course.' Nevertheless I must journey today and tomorrow, and the day following; for it cannot be that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then will come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the voice, which I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key of the abyss and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any more, until the thousand years were ended. After these things he must be released for a short time.

And he said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants the things which must soon take place."

I testify again to every man who receives circumcision, that he is under obligation to keep the whole Law.

The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."

Because of this he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.

Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,

he who says he abides in him ought to walk as he walked.

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself in godliness. For bodily training is of some value, but godliness is of value in all things, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know that they produce quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome, but he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, patient when wronged,

I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish:

and, having been set free from sin, you have become slaves of righteousness.

For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, that I might win the more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those under the law I became as one under the lawthough not being myself under the lawso that I might win those under the law. Each one must give just as he has purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
