Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so death spread to all men, because all men sinned.
Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his span of life?
Yet you do not know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, "Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on!'" "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them."
These things he said, and after that he said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to wake him up." His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps, he will recover." Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep.
And when he came in, he said to them, "Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping."
For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers and saw decay;
After that he appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep.
For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus said to him, "It is as you said. But I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven."
And Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."
They also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched him go into heaven."
so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for him.
"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.
"But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
("Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.")
For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will reward each man according to what he has done.
"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts. Then every man will receive his praise from God.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
Watch thereforefor you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning
Repent therefore, and turn again, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,
I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the good confession before Pontius Pilate, to keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy lives and godliness,
Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the graves will hear his voice and come forth those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
having a hope in God, which these men cherish themselves, that there will certainly be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.
For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day."
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live;
knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
and come forth those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
So is it with the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
Now I tell you this, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.read more.
For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment,
Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it; from his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.
because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given proof to all men by raising him from the dead."
and the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore! And I have the keys of death and Hades.
He who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will condemn him on the last day.
and to give relief to you who are afflicted and to us as well when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
But by the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
He who believes in him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
