For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath."
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, "Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it."
But their minds were hardened; for to this day, when they read the old covenant, the same veil remains unlifted, because only in Christ is it removed. Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil lies over their hearts.

But he said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful to eat, except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?"
Jesus answered them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God, took and ate the consecrated bread, and also gave some to those with him, which is not lawful for any but the priests to eat?"
And he answered them, "Have you not read that he who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,'
and they said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes. Have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants you have perfected praise'?"
Have you not read this Scripture: 'The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?"
But he looked at them and said, "What then is this that is written: 'The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone'?
But as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God,
"So when you see standing in the holy place 'the abomination of desolation,' spoken of by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand)
"When you see 'the abomination of desolation' standing where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
When this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you read the letter from Laodicea.
And when they read it, they rejoiced at its encouragement.
I charge you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brethren.
All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness;
Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and enter his glory?" And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures.
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.
and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
Blessed is he who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it; for the time is near.
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through perseverance and the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.
My little children, I write this to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by him in peace, spotless and blameless. And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
