David gave the order for his soldiers to kill Rechab and Baanah and cut off their hands and feet. They killed them and hung their hands and feet near the pool in Hebron. They took Ishbosheth's head and buried it in Abner's tomb there at Hebron.

The king said: Do as he said. Kill him there and bury him in the earth. This will remove the guilt of his senseless murders from my father's family and me. Jehovah will punish Joab for those murders he committed without my father David's knowledge. Appoint judges and officers for your tribes in every city Jehovah your God gives you. They are to judge the people fairly. Never pervert justice. Always be impartial. Never take a bribe, because bribes blind wise people and deny justice to those who are in the right.

These sayings belong to the wise. It is not good to show partiality in judgment. The people curse and the nations abhor the man who says to the wicked, You are righteous. Those who rebuke the wicked are filled with delight. A good blessing will come upon them.

It is not good to show partiality for a man will transgress for a piece of bread.

You teach that a man should tell his father or mother that what he has that could help them, is given to God. You say there is no need for him to give honor to his father. You have invalidated the word of God because of your tradition!

Moses said: 'Honor your father and your mother. He also said: 'He that speaks evil of father or mother must die.' But you say: 'If a man says to his father or his mother that which would benefit you is a gift to God, he no longer has to do anything for his father or mother.'read more.

Honor your father and your mother, and Love your neighbor as yourself.

You know the commandments, do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, and do not bear false witness. Honor your father and mother.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise. Then it will go well with you, and you may live long on the earth.

Each one of you should love his own wife even as himself. The wife should respect her husband.

Be subject (obedient) (subordinate) to one another in reverence of Christ. Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, and Christ also is the head of the congregation, he being the savior of the body.read more.
The congregation is subject to Christ. Likewise let the wives also be to their husbands in everything. Husbands love your wives, even as Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up for it.

Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.

Sarah obeyed Abraham and called him lord. You are her children now, if you do what is right and are not fearful. In the same way, you husbands live with your wives in an understanding way. Jehovah continued to speak to Moses: Tell the Israelites: 'If Israelites or foreigners living among you give one of their children as a sacrifice to the god Molech, they must be put to death. People were bringing little children to him so he could touch them. His disciples turned them away. But when Jesus saw it he was moved with indignation. He said: Allow the little children to come to me! Do not turn them away for they belong to the kingdom of God. They brought all their babes to him that he should touch them. When the disciples saw it they rebuked them. Jesus said: Invite the little children to come to me, and do not forbid them for the kingdom of God belongs to them. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of God.

Ministerial servants should likewise be men of dignity, not double-tongued, or addicted to much wine or fond of sordid gain. They should maintain the secret of the faith with a clear conscience. Let these be tested first. Then let them serve as servants, if they are blameless. Women in like manner must be serious, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

But David said: Do not harm him! Jehovah will certainly punish whoever harms his chosen king. By the living God Jehovah, David declared, I know that Jehovah will kill Saul, either when his time comes to die a natural death or when he dies in battle. Jehovah forbid that I should try to harm the one Jehovah anointed to be king. Just take his spear and his water jar and go.

Saul returned from fighting the Philistines. He declared: I have heard that David is in the desert around En-Gedi. Saul led three thousand of Israel's best soldiers out to look for David and his men near Wild Goat Rocks at En-Gedi. There were some sheep pens along the side of the road. One of them was built around the entrance to a cave. So Saul went into the cave to relieve himself. David and his men were hiding at the back of the cave.read more.
They whispered to David: Jehovah told you he was going to let you defeat your enemies and do whatever you want with them. This must be the day Jehovah was talking about. David sneaked over and cut off a small piece of Saul's robe and Saul did not notice. Later David's conscience bothered him because he had cut off the edge of Saul's robe. He told his men: Stop talking foolishly. We are not going to attack Saul. He is my king. I pray that Jehovah will keep me from doing anything to harm his chosen king. David stopped his men by saying this to them. He did not let them attack Saul. Saul left the cave and went out onto the road.

Elisha answered: By the living God Jehovah, whom I serve, I swear that I would have nothing to do with you if I did not respect your ally, King Jehoshaphat of Judah.

Let every person be subject to superior authorities. For there is no authority except by God. God allows the authorities to serve in their positions. Whoever opposes the authority resists the ordinance of God. Those who resist will receive judgment. For rulers are objects of fear, not to good works, but to the evil. Will you not have respect for the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from it.read more.
He is the minister of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid for he does not bear the sword in vain. He is the minister of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil. You must be in subjection, not only because of that wrath, but also for the sake of your conscience. We ask you, brothers, to appreciate those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you.

Obey those who lead you. Submit to them: for they watch in behalf of your lives and must account for this. Obey them that their work may be a joy and not a burden; that would be without gain for you.

Show respect to the elderly, and honor older people. In this way you show respect for your God. I am Jehovah.

Elihu waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he. When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouths of these three men, he became angry. Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite answered: I am young in years, and you are aged; therefore I was timid and afraid to declare my opinion to you.read more.
I said: 'Let days speak, and many years teach wisdom.'

They put princes to death by hanging. The elders are not honored.

Do not rebuke (censure) (criticize) an elder, but appeal to him as a father, the younger men as brothers. Treat the elder women as mothers, the younger as sisters, with much honor.
