He who would save his life shall lose it. He who would lose his life for my sake shall save it.

Boaz answered: I have heard about everything you have done for your mother-in-law after the death of your husband. You went away from your father and mother and the land of your birth, and came to a people who are strange to you.

Sell your possessions and give to charity. Make yourselves purses that do not get old, a treasure in heaven where moth and rest cannot corrupt and thieves cannot steal.

Peter said: Indeed we have left our own to follow you. Jesus said: Truly I tell you, no man has left house, or wife, or brother, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive manifold more now and in the age to come everlasting life.

Then Peter said: See, we have given up everything to follow you. What then will we have? Peter said to him: We have left all and followed you. Jesus said: Truly I tell you, a man that has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the sake of the good news, will receive a hundred times as much now in this time, and in the age to come everlasting life.

All those who believed stayed together. They held all things in common. They sold their possessions and goods, and distributed them to all men, as every man had need.

The congregation that believed was of one heart and mind. No one claimed his or her own possessions for everything was common property. The apostles witnessed about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus with great power. Grace (God's loving kindness) was upon them all. Those who do not carry their own stake and come after me may not be my disciples.

Then Jesus told his disciples: If any man wants to follow me (be mine), let him deny (disown) himself, and take up his stake and follow me (Greek: akoloutheo moi, let him be following me) (accompany me) (be in the same way with me). He who wants to save his life will lose it. He who is willing to lose his life for my sake will find it.

He then spoke to both his disciples and the crowd. He said: If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his stake and follow me. Whoever would save his life will lose it. Whoever would lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.

He told them all: If any man would come after me let him deny himself. Let him take up his stake (of self-denial) daily, and follow me. He who would save his life shall lose it. He who would lose his life for my sake shall save it.

He who seeks to gain his life will lose it. He who loses his life will preserve it.

By this we know love, because he (Jesus) gave his life for us. We ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. Whoever has this world's goods and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how does the love of God dwell in him? My Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth.

We always carry in the body the death of Jesus, that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our mortal flesh.

For, though I am free from all persons, yet I have made myself a servant to all, that I might gain more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews. To those under the Law, as under the Law, that I might gain those under the Law. To those without Law I became like those without Law that I might gain them. Brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death. All men will hate you because of my name. He who endures to the end will be saved.

Parent, brothers and sisters and friends will turn you over and cause you to be put to death. Men will hate you because of my name.

Holy Spirit warns me that in every city, prison and hardships are facing me there. I do not consider my life of any account. It is not dear to me so that I may finish the race, and I may accomplish the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to preach the good news of the grace of God.

Will you forgive their sin? If not, please wipe me out of the book you have written.

He went forward a little ways and fell on the ground to pray. He prayed that if it were possible the hour might pass from him. He said: Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Take this cup from me. Even so not what I will, but what you will.

He prayed: Father if it is your will remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will, but your will be done.

If I am offered for the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice with you all.

They stoned Stephen. He called out: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit! He kneeled down and cried with a loud voice: Jehovah, do not charge this sin against them. After saying this he fell asleep in death.

Have this attitude (mind-set) (understanding) (mental state) in you that was also in Christ Jesus. He existed in the form (shape and nature) of God but did not try to be equal with God. He did not even consider it! He emptied (humbled) himself by taking the form of a servant. He was made in the likeness of men.read more.
He obtained the appearance as a man, humbled himself, and became obedient even to death, yes, death on the stake.

And others had trial of cruel mocking and scourging and bonds and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawed in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword; they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented. The world was not worthy of them! They wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I also saw the people who were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image. They had not received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands. They lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
