We do not look at the things that are seen, but at the things that are not seen. For the things that are seen are temporal (for a season). But the things that are not seen are eternal.
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, and evidence of things not seen. God approved of the men of old because of their faith. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the Word of God. The visible has been made out of things that were not visible.

They came to the place God had told him about. Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood on it. He tied up his son and placed him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he picked up the knife to kill him.
By faith Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. He that had gladly received the promises was offering up his only-begotten son!
Jehovah said to Moses: Why are you crying out to me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward. As for you, lift up your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. The sons of Israel shall go through the midst of the sea on dry land.
Caleb told the people to be quiet and listen to Moses. Caleb said: Let us go now and take possession of the land. We should be more than able to conquer it.
If Jehovah is pleased with us, he will take us there and give us that rich and fertile land. Do not rebel against Jehovah. Do not be afraid of the people who live there. We will conquer them easily. Jehovah is with us and has defeated the gods who protected them. Do not be afraid.
Joshua said to the people: Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow Jehovah will do amazing things among you. Joshua spoke to the priests: Take up the Ark of the Covenant, and pass over before the people. Jehovah said to Joshua: See, I have given into your hand Jericho, and the king there, and the mighty men of valor. March around the city with all your armed men. Go around the city once per day for six days. Seven priests will carry before you seven trumpets of rams' horns along with the Ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times. When you hear a long blast with the ram's horn, all the people will shout with a great shout. The wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up, every man straight in to the city.
