Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, And whom God hath hedged in? For my sighing cometh before I eat, And my groanings are poured out like water. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a broken spirit who can bear?

Whither are we going up? our brethren have made our heart to melt, saying, The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.

And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which Jehovah hath given them?

Because he remembered not to show kindness, But persecuted the poor and needy man, And the broken in heart, to slay them .

Wherefore my judgment is, that we trouble not them that from among the Gentiles turn to God;

Fathers, provoke not your children, that they be not discouraged.

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; them that are illtreated, as being yourselves also in the body.

To him that is ready to faint kindness'should be showed from his friend; Even to him that forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.

For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay hath taken hold on me.

Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
