Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to compile a treatise of those things, which are surely known among us, even as they declared them unto us, which from the beginning saw their selves, and were ministers at the doing: I determined also, as soon as I had searched out diligently all things from the beginning, that then I would write unto thee, good Theophilus,read more.
that thou mightest know the certainty of those things, whereof thou art informed.

The same disciple is he, which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things. And we know, that his testimony is true.

In the former treatise, Dear friend Theophilus, I have written of all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day in the which he was taken up; after that he, through the holy ghost, had given commandments unto the apostles, which he had chosen:

For first of all, I delivered unto you that which I received: how that Christ died for our sins, agreeing to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he arose again the third day according to the scriptures, and that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve.read more.

For we followed not deceitful fables when we opened unto you the power, and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but with our eyes we saw his majesty:

Then opened he their wits, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, "Thus is it written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise again from death the third day. And ye are witnesses of these things.

And ye shall bear witness also, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

but ye shall receive power of the holy ghost which shall come on you. And ye shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Jewry, and in Samaria, and even unto the world's end."

This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

As they spake unto the people, the priests and the ruler of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, taking it grievously that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from death. Howbeit, many of them, which heard the words, believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. For a manifest sign is done by them, and is openly known to all them that dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it: But that it be noised no farther among the people, let us threaten and charge them that they speak henceforth to no man in this name." And they called them, and commanded them that in no wise they should speak or teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered unto them and said, "Whether it be right in the sight of God to obey you more than God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak that which we have seen and heard."

And we are his records as concerning these things: and also the holy ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him."

But God raised him again from death, and he was seen many days of them, which came with him from Galilee to Jerusalem which are his witnesses unto the people.

how shall we escape if we despise so great salvation? Which at the first began to be preached of the Lord himself, and afterward was confirmed unto us ward, by them that heard it; God bearing witness thereto, both with signs and wonders also, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the holy ghost, according to his own will.

The elders which are among you I exhort, which am also an elder and a witness of the afflictions of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be opened:

And we have seen and do testify that the father hath sent his son, which is the saviour of the world.

And daily in the temple, and in every house they ceased not, teaching and preaching Jesus Christ.

But how shall they call on him, on whom they believed not? How shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? How shall they hear without a preacher? But as soon as they believed Philip's preaching of the kingdom of God and of the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised: both men and women.

For when the world, through wisdom, knew not God in the wisdom of God: it pleased God through foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

But they heard only, that he which persecuted us in time past, now preacheth the faith, which before he destroyed.

Preach the word, be fervent; be it in season, or out of season. Improve, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

Remember them which have the oversight of you, which have declared unto you the word of God: consider the conversation of their living, the end of whose conversation see that ye look upon, and follow their faith.

But that comforter, which is the holy ghost - whom my father will send in my name - he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have told you.

"But when the comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the father, which is the spirit of truth which proceedeth of the father, he shall testify of me.

I have yet many things to say unto you, But ye cannot bear them away now. Howbeit, when he is once come - I mean the spirit of truth - he will lead you into all truth. He shall not speak of himself: but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine, and shall show unto you.read more.
All things that the father hath are mine. Therefore said I unto you that he shall take of mine and show unto you.

This Jesus Christ is he that came by water and blood, not by water only: but by water and blood.
