And he said unto them, "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?"

and said unto them, "Thus is it written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise again from death the third day.

But those things which God before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets, how that Christ should suffer, he hath thus wise fulfilled it.

And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them: and three Sabbath days declared out of the scripture unto them, opening and alleging that Christ must needs have suffered and risen again from death. And that this Jesus was Christ, whom, said he, "I preach to you."

And we went astray as sheep, and turned every man his way: and the LORD put on him the wickedness of us all. He suffered wrong and was evil entreated, and yet opened not his mouth: he was as a sheep led to be slain: and as a lamb before his shearer, he was dumb and opened not his mouth. By the reason of the affliction, he was not esteemed: and yet his generation who can number? When he is taken from the earth of living men: for my people's transgression he was plagued. Therefore I will give him his part in many, and the spoil of the rich he shall divide: because he gave his soul to death, and was numbered with the trespassers, and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for transgressors.

From that time forth, Jesus began to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders, and of the high priests, and of the scribes; and must be killed, and rise again the third day.

saying that the son of man must suffer many things, and be reproved of the elders, and of the high priests and scribes, and be slain, and the third day rise again.

And I say unto you, that Elijah is come already: And they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they lusted. In likewise shall also the son of man suffer of them."

But first must he suffer many things, and be refused of this nation.

Then said the Lord of the vineyard, 'What shall I do? I will send my dear son, him peradventure they will reverence, when they see him.' Jesus then full of the holy ghost, returned from Jordan, and was carried of the spirit into a wilderness, and was forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days ate he nothing: And when they were ended, he afterward hungered. And the devil said unto him, "If thou be the son of God, command this stone that it be bread."

Then the devil took him up into the holy city, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple,

The world cannot hate you. Me it hateth: Because I testify of it, that the works of it are evil.

"If the world hate you, ye know that he hated me before he hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own. Howbeit, because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore hateth you the world. Remember the saying, that I said unto you, 'The servant is not greater than the Lord.' If they have persecuted me, so will they persecute you. If they have kept my saying, so will they keep yours.

which wisdom none of the rulers of the world knew. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

He came among his own, and his own received him not.

Who believeth our sayings? And the arm of the LORD, to whom is it opened?

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest prophets, and stonest them which are sent to thee: how often would I have gathered thy children together, as the hen gathereth her chicks under her wings? But ye would not.

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept on it, saying, "If thou hadst known those things which belong unto thy peace, even at thy time: But now are they hid from thine eyes.

And how the high priests, and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death: and have crucified him.
